Former WA Police Officers Suffering From PTSD Call For Compensation and Support

If you get hurt at work you’d usually expect to be covered by some form of workers’ compensation, but not if you’re a police officer in Western Australia. That’s because WA is the only state that doesn’t have a compensation scheme in place for its police. There’s also a serious lack of support for the families of police affected by post traumatic stress disorder.
But a group of former police officers and the wife of a serving officer are trying to change that: 
a group of former West Australian police officers who suffer from post traumatic stress disorder is fighting to establish a compensation scheme. Meanwhile, the wife of a serving officer has established a support group for partners and families of people suffering from PTSD.

Large Crowds At WA Police Expo; Tomorrow’s Kensington Police Open Day Poised For Success

A full afternoon of police-style entertainment was on show during the WA Police Expo at the Joondalup Police Academy, on Saturday 2 May 2015. A crowd of 5,000 plus enjoyed a fantastic display of police resources in one location.

Crackdown on Synthetic Drugs and ‘Legal Highs’ In WA

The State Government is set to introduce new laws to close a legal loophole and clamp down on the sale, promotion and supply of synthetic drugs. West Australians who manufacture, sell or supply psychoactive substances could soon face four years’ jail and penalties of up to $48,000. Those who promote synthetic drugs could face two years’ jail and fines of up to $24,000. Opposition leader Mark McGowan said “This product ruins lives and banning it should have been a priority.”.

A news broadcast in the United States has reported that phone calls to police in Northbridge have been “re-routed” to Northbridge in Massachusetts.

A news presenter from CBS station WBZ-TV News Boston said it was “almost like a punchline-type joke”.
