Queensland Police Service In Need Of 300 More Vehicles

Claims the Queensland Police Service urgently needs another 300 vehicles for its growing frontline have prompted a statewide review of the service’s fleet.

Right to Information data obtained by The Courier-Mail shows the QPS has 2588 cars, vans and four-wheel drives.

The police service has about 15,000 employees, including non-sworn officers, statewide, meaning there is one vehicle for every five staff members.

The Queensland Police Union said the increase in frontline officers over the past three years had not been matched by a boost in vehicles and other resources.
