Darwin Teen Posts Photo On Facebook Smoking Bong While Wearing Stolen Police Cap

A teenager should be expecting a visit from police after posting a picture on his Facebook page of him allegedly smoking a bong and flipping the bird while wearing a stolen Northern Territory Police cap.

He’s also wearing sunglasses in what seems an attempt to hide his identity.

Dylan Clifton, believed to be 16, made the image his profile picture on Facebook last week.

It’s believed he may have stolen the cap from the back seat of a police car earlier this month.

Several of his peers commented on the photo, including two labelling him the “maddest c—”.

Another told him he was “just stupid bro”, and True Blue Line would like to thank him for making the Police job easier by incriminating himself, confessing, demonstrating possession of stolen Police property and the use and possession of controlled substance on public medium such as Facebook. Every time a criminal makes a job easier for the Police is a win to the community,

Does Free Ping Pong in Seattle Parks Stop Crime?

The city of Seattle is wondering if free ping pong in its parks may help stop crime. KING-TV reports that the city’s experiment with a free ping pong table seems to be making a difference.

A ping pong table was installed at Hing Hay Park in Chinatown four years ago. Since then, crime data from the Seattle Police Department suggests incidents in the area seem to be going down, although there have been ups and downs. There were 46 crime incidents in the area in 2009 and 16 in 2014.

No one is willing to draw a direct connection between the ping pong table and the crime statistics, but the city has installed four other tables since then. Officials believe the positive community activity could be crowding out crime.

Heather Mac Donald fears we are, and as a premier advocate and analyst of the policing strategy pioneered by Rudy Giuliani in New York City and copied and adapted throughout the country, she is to be taken seriously. And the statistics she presented in an article in last weekend’s Wall Street Journal are truly alarming.

Why is this happening? Mac Donald writes, “The most plausible explanation of the current surge in lawlessness is the intense agitation against American police departments over the past nine months.”

We must hope that the fire does not spread, but dies down. Perhaps it will if police resume the tactics that have proved so successful. The alternative, for those of us who have witnessed the past half-century, is terrifying.

Get Off Facebook and Help Us, NT Police Tell Alice Springs Residents

Get off Facebook and help us: that is the message from NT Police to people complaining about crime. Frustrated NT Police have urged Alice Springs residents to stop complaining about crime on social media and help them by reporting incidents using traditional methods.

During a recent spike in youth crime, Alice Springs residents posted on social media about things they had observed rather than notify police, Acting Assistant NT Police Commissioner Kate Vanderlaan said.

She said participation in the Alice Springs Neighbourhood Watch program had waned in recent years, but said police were recruiting new members.

Vanderlaan said: “Be part of the community rather than be negative towards things that are going on.”
