Adelaide’s East Terrace Siege: Tourist Reveals Horror of Being Caught Up In Shooting

An English tourist has revealed his horror at being caught up in a city siege in which an alleged armed robber was shot.

John McCoy said he and his fiancee woke to the sounds of the siege about 5am on Saturday, and he initially thought there was a gunman on the balcony of where the couple were staying, in the Public Schools Club on East Tce.

“It was a very distressing experience and not something you would ever expect to go through,” Mr McCoy said.

Police Cars Damaged In Overnight Pursuit In Adelaide Following Ramming Attempt

Two police cars have been damaged in a car chase at Salisbury North in Adelaide overnight after a driver allegedly tried to ram a patrol car. Police said a Mazda sedan was allegedly “driven at police” at Bagster Road just before 10:30pm.

Blakeview Police Station Closed As Part Of A Review Of South Australian Police Operations

The Blakeview Police Station is now closed. It was announced earlier this month that eight small satellite police stations across metropolitan Adelaide would shut as part of an ongoing review focused on improving service delivery.
Police response in the Blakeview area remains unaffected, with patrols continuing to respond either from the Local Service Area headquarters, large patrol bases or, if they are already patrolling, from their location on the road.
Stations will be closed by June 30 and are dotted across the Adelaide suburbs:

  • Firle
  • Newton
  • North Adelaide
  • Blakeview
  • Pooraka
  • Tea Tree Gully
  • Malvern
  • Hallett Cove
