NSW Joint Counter Terrorism Team charge man with terrorism offences

New South Wales Police on Thursday, 15/06/2017 19:00 AEST

Members of the NSW Joint Counter Terrorism Team have charged a 22-year-old Panania man following his arrest at Sydney International Airport today.

The man was arrested at around 10am at the International Terminal.

He was taken to Mascot Police Station where he was interviewed and charged with one count of Preparations for incursions into foreign countries for purpose of engaging in hostile activities, contrary to section 119.4(1) of the Criminal Code Act 1995. The maximum penalty for this offence is life imprisonment.

He has been refused bail to appear at Central Local Court tomorrow (Friday 16 June 2017).

The NSW Joint Counter Terrorism Team – comprises the NSW Police Force, the Australian Federal Police, the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation, and the NSW Crime Commission.

Missing man, Hemmant – LOCATED

Queensland Police Service on Thursday, 15/06/2017 18:49 AEST

LOCATED safe and well.

Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate a man reported missing from Hemmant today.

He was last seen at a Tingalpa residence around 10.15am and police hold concerns for his welfare as he has not contacted family since.

He is described as 50 years old, Caucasian in appearance, 180cms tall with a large build, ginger hair and blue eyes.

He is believed to be driving a Silver 2010, Ford Falcon Sedan.

Anyone who has seen him or the car is urged to contact police.

Police re-appeal after newsagency robbery – Cessnock.

Police are re-appealing for information following an armed robbery at Cessnock in April 2017.

Just after 2.30pm on Saturday 1 April 2017, a 27-year-old man was working at a newsagency on Wollombi Road.

A man armed with a knife and his face covered, entered the store and demanded cash.

The worker complied with the demand before the man left the store.

Police from Central Hunter Local Area Command have released CCTV images of a man they believe can assist them with their inquiries.

Police continue search for missing teen Chiara Culliver

Police are continuing to search for missing 15-year-old Chiara Culliver.

Chiara was last seen on Saturday 20 May.

Police and family have concerns for her welfare due to due to her age and she has not been in contact since leaving home

Investigators have released an image of Chiara in the hope that someone may recognise her.

Chiara is approximately 165 cm tall, has brown hair and a medium build.

Man wanted on warrants – St George

Police from St George Local Area Command are appealing for assistance to locate a man wanted on outstanding warrants.

Dragomir Cukar, aged 59, is wanted on a warrant for revocation of parole and aggravated break and enter, as well as a conviction warrant.

He was known to frequent the Redfern area.

He is described as being Caucasian in appearance, about 180cm tall with short black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information concerning the whereabouts of Mr Cukar should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Fatal collision in Irymple

Victoria Police on Thursday, 15/06/2017 16:30 AEST

The collision occurred at the intersection of Fifteenth Street and Sandilong Avenue about 10.30am on 8 May.

It is alleged a vehicle failed to give way before turning right into Sandilong Avenue and was struck by the motorcycle, which had been turning left into the same street.

The rider, a 68-year-old Mildura man, was taken to hospital but later died on 5 June.

Woman seriously assaulted at Toowong

Queensland Police Service on Thursday, 15/06/2017 16:19 AEST

Brisbane detectives have charged a man with a number of serious offences including acts intended to maim (domestic violence) and strangulation (domestic violence) following the alleged serious assault of a woman in a Toowong park yesterday (June 14).

Police will allege the pair became involved in an argument around 6pm during which time the woman was physically assaulted, including punched several times about the head and face and strangled.

The 18-year-old woman managed to struggle free and flag down a passing motorist.

She received non-life threatening injuries including severe facial swelling, abrasions and bruising.

A 32-year-old Indooroopilly man appeared in the Brisbane Magistrates Court this morning and has been remanded in custody to re-appear in Court on the above charges as well as contravening a domestic violence order and wilful damage.

Investigations are on-going with detectives appealing for witnesses to the alleged assault.

The small park is located near the Royal Exchange Hotel, towards the railway tracks and near the corner of Benson Street and McDonnell Terrace, Toowong.

Police search for missing teen Brylie Billings

Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate 15-year-old Brylie Billings.

Brylie was last seen in Melbourne on the 24th of May this year.

She is known to frequent the Hillside, Melton West, and Watergardens areas.

Police and family members hold concerns for Brylie’s welfare due to her age.

Investigators have released an earlier image of Brylie in the hope someone may recognise her and be able to provide information on her whereabouts.

Update: Fatal traffic crash, Camp Hill

Queensland Police Service on Thursday, 15/06/2017 15:49 AEST

A 27-year-old local woman sadly passed away this morning in hospital from injuries sustained following a serious traffic incident at Camp Hill yesterday morning.

Preliminary investigations suggest that around 7.40am, two vehicles collided at the intersection of Thomas Street and Samuel Street.

The collision has forced both vehicles onto the northern side of Thomas Street, and a pedestrian that was walking across Thomas Street at the time was struck by one of the vehicles.

She was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition, but passed away today.

The Forensic Crash Unit is continuing investigations

Police are appealing for public assistance to locate a man missing in the state’s south.

Aaron Hite, aged 30, was last seen in Tumut about 10.45am on Wednesday 14 June 2017.

Aaron is known to frequent Tumut, Cobargo and Bombala.

He is likely to be driving a blue coloured Nissan Navarra utility, with New South Wales registration BVO07V.

Aaron is of Caucasian appearance with a medium complexion, approximately 180cm tall, with a solid build. He has short brown hair and brown eyes.

Warrant Issued for Brendan Lees

Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate Brendan Lees.

Five warrants have been issued for the 23-year-old’s arrest for multiple reasons, inclusive of failure to appear.

Lees is known to frequent the Melton area, however may have travelled interstate.

Investigators have released an image of Lees in the hope someone may have information on his current whereabouts.

Lees is 175cm tall, Caucasian and has brown hair.

Update: Serious traffic crash, North Maclean

Queensland Police Service on Thursday, 15/06/2017 14:56 AEST

Police are appealing for public assistance to help with investigations into a serious traffic crash that occurred at North Maclean yesterday afternoon.

Preliminary inquiries indicate about 2.45pm a truck was headed south on the Mount Lindsay Highway when it has veered into the north bound lane and collided with a car.

The driver of the car, a 22-year-old Boronia Heights man, has been transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.

The driver of the truck, a 32-year-old Jimboomba woman, was not injured in the crash.

Police are encouraging anyone who may have dashcam footage of the traffic crash to contact Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.

Historic attempted rape charge, Redbank Plains

Ipswich detectives investigating the alleged attempted rape of a 20-year-old woman in Redbank Plains in 2006 have charged a man over the violent attack.

It will be alleged on August 27, 2006 a woman was dragged from Kruger Parade into a nearby park at Redbank Plains where she was seriously assaulted before a member of the public intervened.

Today, a 37-year-old Riverview man has been charged with attempted rape, deprivation of liberty and assault occasioning bodily harm. He is due to appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court today.

Detective Acting Inspector Heath McQueen said the arrest follows a protracted and extensive investigation.

“This result highlights the commitment of the Queensland Police Service to upholding the law and bringing offenders to justice,” Detective Acting Inspector McQueen said.

Alleged prolific property offender, Brisbane

Brisbane detectives investigating a spate of recent property offences committed on Brisbane’s north and southside, have released images of a man who may be able to assist them with their investigations.

Detectives want to speak to 31-year-old, Mitchell Connor in relation to these investigations with police believing he may be in possession of a handgun and are urging members of the public not to approach him.

From early April, 2017 vehicles and personal property have been stolen from car parks and garages – many of which would be considered secure parking locations – in Norman Park, New Farm, Albion, Lutwyche, Nundah, Windsor, Spring Hill, Kelvin Grove, Northgate, West End and Coorparoo.

Similar offences have also occurred in Burleigh Heads and Southport.

Detectives are investigating in excess of 30 separate incidents with property stolen including motor vehicles, number plates, house keys, garage remote control, smart phones and motorbikes.

Mitchell Connor is described as Caucasian, with a solid build, light brown hair, and 187cms tall.

Detectives have released CCTV of a white Audi sedan stolen from the car park of an Annie Street, New Farm apartment complex on May 12.

Police allege two people drive into the car park in a previously stolen silver VW sedan, before breaking into one parked vehicle and stealing property, and then stealing the parked Audi. Both vehicles then exit the car park.

The silver VW sedan has since been located. The white Audi was later located in Spring Hill.

Detectives arrested a 27-year-old woman from Annerley on June 13, 2017 and charged her with 14 linked offences including unlawful use of motor vehicles, unlawful entry of secure carparks and stealing. She appeared in the Brisbane Magistrates Court yesterday and has been remanded in custody.

The man has been charged with 11 offences, including enter dwelling with intent, assault occasioning bodily harm, strangulation, deprivation of liberty, fail to stop motor vehicle, contravention of a domestic violence order and breach bail condition.

The man is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court today.

Update 2: Drugs and weapons charges, Scarborough

Two men have been charged following the discovery of a suspicious device at Scarborough yesterday.

It will be alleged around 10.20am police executed a search warrant at a Fortune Street address where a quantity of drugs (methyl amphetamine) and paraphernalia associated with the production of drugs were allegedly located in a shed at the rear of the property.

A quatity of ammunition and a suspicious device were also uncovered.

An emergent situation was declared under the Public Safety Preservation Act at 3.30pm and the device was destroyed by specialist police.

The PSPA declaration was revoked just after 5pm.

A 32-year-old Scarborough man has been charged with a total of 19 offences including six counts of supplying dangerous drugs, two counts each of possessing dangerous drugs, possession of anything used in the commission of crime, possession of relevant substances, unlawful possession of weapons and one count each of authority required to possess explosives, possess utensils, producing dangerous drugs, possess instructions for producing drugs and receiving tainted property.

He is due to appear in Redcliffe Magistrates Court today.

A 31-year-old Scarborough man has been charged with possessing dangerous drugs and is due to appear in Redcliffe Magistrates Court on July 10.

Investigations are continuing.

Two teens charged after pursuit – Warrawong

Two teenagers have been charged following a pursuit in the Wollongong area last night.

About 11.40pm (Wednesday 14 June 2017), officers attached to the Police Dog Unit attempted to stop a stolen Toyota Corolla on Minnegang Street, Warrawong.

The vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated.

With the assistance of officers from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command, a short time later the vehicle was located abandoned in Malcolm Avenue, Cringila.

Two teenage males were located in the backyard of a home nearby and arrested.

Police call for witnesses to brawl – Newcastle

Police from Newcastle City Local Area Command are appealing for assistance following a brawl at a bowling club in Merewether earlier this month.

On Saturday 3 June 2017, two separate groups of men were drinking in the outdoor area of the Kilgour Avenue club when an argument started.

The argument quickly escalated to a physical altercation between a large number of patrons resulting in numerous non life-threatening injuries.

Police were called and an investigation was commenced.

Victoria Police shares Iftar dinner with Muslim community

Victoria Police hosted its 13th Chief Commissioner’s Iftar Dinner on Wednesday night to commemorate Ramadan with representatives and leaders from Victoria’s Islamic community.

More than 150 people attended the event, including representatives from the Islamic Council of Victoria, the Victorian Board of Imams, Islamic Shia Council of Victoria, Benevolence Australia, United Muslims Sisters of Latrobe Valley, Rabbinical Council of Victoria and the Sikh Interfaith Council of Victoria.

Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton said he was proud to host his third Iftar Dinner which had a theme of ’social cohesion’.

“The relationship between Victoria Police and the Islamic community is one that we value greatly – and it’s one that is continually strengthened,” CCP Ashton said.

“We are proud to serve a vibrant multicultural community and believe everyone has the right to live free from prejudice regardless of faith, background, age or gender.

Police appeal after man hit by car – Bathurst

Police are appealing for assistance after an elderly man was hit by a car that failed to stop in Bathurst yesterday.

Just before 4.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 14 June 2017), a 73-year-old man was crossing George Street when he was struck by a white Toyota utility turning from Durham Street.

He was airlifted to Westmead Hospital in a serious but stable condition, suffering a fractured leg and facial injuries.

Witnesses reported the driver rendered assistance to the injured man but left before police arrived.

Police believe that the driver of the utility shown in a CCTV image can assist with their inquiries.

Fourth arrest over Renmark crop

South Australia Police on Thursday, 15/06/2017 11:11 AEST

A man has been arrested following further investigation into a cannabis crop discovery in Renmark in January.

On 6 January, police attended a property in Chaffey and discovered a number of hydroponically grown cannabis plants, dried cannabis as well as two firearms concealed in a wall cavity.

This morning, detectives from Drug and Organised Crime Task Force attended a house on Cross Keys Road in Salisbury.

There, they arrested a 60–year-old Salisbury man. He is expected to be charged with aggravated trafficking of a commercial quantity of cannabis, cultivate cannabis and firearms offences.

The arrest follows three other arrests, a 56-year-old Renmark man on 6 January, a 51-year-old Renmark woman on 13 January and a 26-year-old Angle Vale man on 8 June.

The man has been refused bail and is expected to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court later today.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing and police have not ruled out further arrests.

Three charged in drug investigation – Taree

New South Wales Police on Thursday, 15/06/2017 10:14 AEST

Three people have been charged following an ongoing investigation into drug supply in the Taree area.

Detectives attached to the Manning/Great Lakes Local Area Command arrested a 31-year-old for allegedly selling a prohibited drug, believed to be methylamphetamine, in a car park in Mills Close, Taree, yesterday (Wednesday 14 June 2017).

Police subsequently executed three search warrants in Taree; at a home on Lansdowne Road, a storage shed in Muldoon Street and a home in Gwenneth Avenue.

A 41-year-old man was arrested at the Gwenneth Avenue property and a 31-year-old woman was arrested at the Lansdowne Road property.

All three were taken to Taree Police Station where they were charged.

Two arrested following alleged abduction near Queanbeyan

A man and a woman will face court today after they allegedly abducted two teenage girls near Queanbeyan.

Shortly before midday yesterday (Wednesday 14 June 2017), two girls, aged 14, were on Donald Road, Karabar, when a car pulled up alongside them.

Police have been told that a man exited the car and forced the girls into the backseat before driving away.

A woman was also in the car and the couple allegedly took the girls mobile phones and drove them through several suburbs while allegedly threatening them.

The girls were returned to Donald Road a short time later and police were alerted to the incident.

Public assistance sought to locate missing teenager

ACT Police on Thursday, 15/06/2017 09:29 AEST

Lily was last seen in Calwell around 2pm yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, 14 June 2017).

Lily is described as Caucasian in appearance, approximately 170cm (5’6”) tall of slim build with shoulder-length brown hair. She was last seen wearing grey tracksuit pants and possibly a black ’hoodie’ jumper. She was also seen carrying a black Hurley backpack with white spots and a large orange ‘H’ on it.

Police hold concerns for Lily’s welfare.

Fourth man charged in connection to the murder of Qin Wu – SCC Homicide Squad

A man will face court today after being charged by detectives investigating the murder of a man in Sydney’s south west earlier this year.

About 11pm on Wednesday 1 February 2017, police and emergency services attended a house on Kennedy Street, Guildford, following reports a man had been shot.

Despite the best efforts of NSW Ambulance paramedics, the man died at the scene.

He was formally identified as 37-year-old Chinese National, Qin Wu.

Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, with the assistance of Rosehill Local Area Command, established Strike Force Buttle to investigate Mr Wu’s death.

Update missing woman, Port Douglas

Queensland Police Service on Thursday, 15/06/2017 09:25 AEST

Police would like thank the public for their assistance in locating a 20-year-old Port Douglas woman reported missing around midnight on Tuesday.

At approximately 6pm yesterday police received information from the public about a black coloured 2012 Holden Commodore Station wagon in the Mareeba area.

Police observed the vehicle travelling on the Kennedy Highway towards Cairns and attempted to stop the vehicle using tyre deflation devices, without success.

At about 7.40pm the car (pictured), left the Kennedy Highway and travelled down a steep embankment on the Kuranda Range.

The 20-year-old woman was located by police at the crash site whilst the male driver fled into bushland on foot.

Specialist police and a helicopter tracked the 24-year-old through bushland near Smithfield. He was taken into custody at about 9pm.

He is currently assisting police with their investigation. The woman has received medical treatment for her injuries.

Car stolen during robbery at Para Hills

Police are investigating a robbery at Para Hills overnight where a man’s car was stolen.

A man and a woman were sitting in their car stopped in a carpark area on Bridge Road near Goodall Road about 2.15am on Thursday 15 June when they were approached by a man holding a knife.

The man demanded the couple get out of the car and leave the keys. He then got into the victim’s black R34 Nissan Skyline and was last seen driving northbound on Bridge Road.

The man and woman were not injured during the incident.

The suspect is described as Caucasian, medium build, about 185cm tall with black hair and in his late 20’s to early 30’s. He was wearing all black clothing with a black hooded top pulled over his head and a scarfe covering his face.

Police ask anyone who sees the stolen car, a black 1999 R34 Nissan Skyline with SA registration S430AKN, to call the police assistance line on 131 444.

Man charged after aggravated burn-outs – Rosehill

A man has been charged as part of inquiries into aggravated burnouts in Sydney’s west on the weekend.

On Sunday (11 June 2017), police received numerous reports of motorcycles and high performance vehicles driving dangerously on the M4 Motorway at Blacktown, and James Rouse Drive at Rosehill.

Officers from the Traffic & Highway Patrol Command commenced an investigation.

About 7pm yesterday (Wednesday 14 June 2017), officers spoke with the owner of a Holden Commodore at Castle Hill Police Station.

The man was issued with a Field Court Attendance Notice for the offence, owner not disclose identity of driver/passenger.

Diamond in the rough – Ararat burglary and jewellery theft

Police are appealing for public assistance following a burglary and jewellery theft in Ararat sometime between May and June.

Investigators have been told a family who had been holidaying from 15 May arrived back at their Gordon Street home on 4 June to discover a jewellery box containing a number of valuable items had been taken.

1 x 9-carat white gold bracelet

2 x 18-carat white gold rings

Elderly man charged with domestic violence offences – Lake Macquarie area

A 97-year-old man has been charged with domestic violence offences after his 80-year-old wife was hospitalised with leg and neck fractures last night.

About 7pm (Wednesday 14 June 2017), Ambulance Paramedics were called to a home on Kerle Street, Redhead following reports a woman was injured.

It’s alleged the woman’s husband pushed her during an argument, causing her to fall to the ground.

The woman was taken to John Hunter Hospital, where she received treatment for a fractured leg, fractured neck and facial injuries.

The man was arrested and taken to Belmont Police Station, where he was charged with reckless grievous bodily harm and served with an Apprehended Violence Order (DV).

Car theft victim targeted twice in Wodonga

Police are investigating the two thefts of motor vehicles from the same premises about a month apart.

Investigators have been told a gold Holden Commodore station wagon was stolen from outside the victim’s Park Lane home sometime between 9pm on Tuesday 2 May and 10.30am the following day.

Police believe the vehicle was later used in a petrol drive-off in Barnawartha on 4 May, before being located burnt-out on Jones Street in Albury, NSW, on 7 May.

This weekend, the victim found himself a victim of motor theft for a second time.

A white Hyundai Accent sedan was stolen from the same address on Saturday 10 June.

Armed robbery, Tingalpa

Police are investigating after an armed robbery incident at Tingalpa early this morning.

Initial investigations indicate at about 1.40am at a licenced premises on Manly Road, two men (pictured) entered the business premises.

One of the men entered the counter area and demanded money from a staff member whilst armed with a meat cleaver.

Both men left the business a short time later in a red Mazda hatch with a sum of cash and other property.

No one was injured during the robbery.

One of the men is described as Caucasian in appearance, aged in his 20’s, 180 cm tall, slim build and blonde hair. He was wearing a black hoodie, black long pants, orange joggers, black gloves and wearing a white cloth over his face.

The second man was wearing a light brown jacket, light coloured long pants, black dress shoes, red cap, white gloves and a cream coloured cloth over his face.

Investigations are continuing.

Serious crash near Lake View

Police are currently at the scene of a serious crash near Lake View in the State’s mid-north.

Just after 12.30am on Thursday 15 June, police and emergency crews were called to the Augusta Highway after reports of a 4WD having rolled.

Investigators from Major Crash are at the scene.

The Augusta Highway is currently closed to all traffic between Merriton and Snowtown with diversions in place.

Heavy vehicles including b-doubles, will not be able to be diverted at these towns and will need to take an alternative route.

Man found with multiple gunshot wounds – Villawood

Police are investigating after a man was shot in Sydney’s west.

Just after 6.15pm (Wednesday 14 June 2017), police and emergency services responded to reports of shots fired in a park at Lowana Street, Villawood

Upon arrival, officers located a man with multiple gunshot wounds to both legs.

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital in a stable condition.

Officers attached to Bankstown Local Area Command established a crime scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Four charged after Wetherill Park RES seize more than 4kg of ‘Ice’ – Strike Force Algebra

Police have charged three men and a woman after seizing more than four kilograms of ‘ice’ with an estimated street value of two million dollars after several search warrants were executed Sydney’s west.

Officers from Region Enforcement Squad (RES) Wetherill Park established Strike Force Algebra in December 2016 to investigate the supply of methylamphetamine by an alleged drug syndicate across north west and south west Sydney.

About 1pm yesterday, (Wednesday 14 June 2017) officers from Wetherill Park RES, with assistance from the Tactical Operations Unit (TOU), arrested two men, aged 23 and 24, on Weston Street, Rosehill, following a planned operation.

During a search of the two men, police allegedly located two kilograms of methylamphetamine, which was seized for forensic examination and both men were taken to Parramatta Police Station.

The 23-year-old man was charged with two counts of supply large commercial quantity of prohibited drugs supply commercial quantity, supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis, five counts of indictable supply prohibited drugs.

Fatal motorcycle and pedestrian crash – Warrawong

A report will be prepared for the Corner following a double fatality in the State’s Illawarra region.

About 6.15pm yesterday (Wednesday 14 June 2017), police attended Cowper Street, Warrawong, following reports of a crash involving a motorcycle and a pedestrian.

On arrival, officers found the rider, a 23-year-old man and a pedestrian, a 58-year-old woman, seriously injured and immediately commenced CPR.

NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived and continued with CPR, however the man and woman died at the scene.

Officers attached to Lake Illawarra Local Area Command established a crime scene and commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Driver charged over alleged fraudulent CTP insurance claims – SCC Fraud & Cybercrime Squad

A man will face court today after being charged by detectives investigating Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance fraud in Sydney’s south-west.

In August 2016, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Fraud and Cybercrime Squad established Strike Force Ravens to investigate syndicates targeting the CTP insurance scheme following recommendations of the CTP Task Force.

The CTP Task Force is a NSW Government initiative coordinated by the State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA), involving representatives from various government agencies and legal, health, and insurance sectors.

As part of ongoing investigations, Strike Force Ravens detectives arrested a 54-year-old man at a home at Liverpool, about 8am yesterday (Wednesday 14 June 2017).

He was taken to Liverpool Police Station and charged with five fraud-related offences.

Woman charged with 52 drug offences – Woolloomooloo

A woman will face court today charged with 52 drug offences following a search warrant in Sydney’s inner city.

In May 2017, officers attached to Kings Cross Local Area Command commenced investigations into the supply of prohibited drugs in the Woolloomooloo area.

Following inquiries, officers attended a unit on Brougham Street, Woolloomooloo, just after 8am yesterday (Wednesday 14 June 2017), and executed a search warrant.

During the search, officers allegedly located and seized a prohibited weapon, a small amount of drugs, drug paraphernalia and mobile phones.

A 44-year-old woman was arrested at the scene and taken to Kings Cross Police Station.

Missing father and son, Mount Gravatt

Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate a missing father and son from Mount Gravatt.

The pair (pictured) were last seen in the vicinity of the Mount Gravatt Lookout at 4.30pm on Friday June 9 in a white Ford transit van.

Family last spoke with the man on June 10, however he and the boy have not been seen or heard from since.

Police and family hold concerns for their welfare due to the absence of contact being out of character.

The 56-year-old man is described as Caucasian in appearance, 163 cm tall, slim build and grey hair.

The 8-year-old boy is described Caucasian in appearance, 100 cm tall, heavy build and brown hair.

Information suggests that the pair may have travelled to Lismore on June 13.

Any members of the public who may have information in relation to the whereabouts of the man and boy are asked to contact police.

Armed robbery – Strathfield

About 3.15pm (Wednesday 14 June 2017), a man walked into a pharmacy on Liverpool Road, South Strathfield and demanded drugs from a female shop assistant.

The man produced what appeared to be a large Samurai sword from his pants and threatened the shop assistant who complied with the demand.

The man left the store, but not before stealing a wallet containing cash and was last seen running west on the Hume Highway towards Homebush Road.

Officers from Flemington Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

Police would like to speak with a man who may be able to assist with inquiries.

Serious traffic crash, North Maclean

Forensic Crash Unit officers are investigating a serious traffic crash that occurred at North Maclean this afternoon.

Preliminary inquiries indicate about 2.45pm a truck was headed south on the Mount Lindsay Highway when it has veered into the north bound lane and collided with a car.

The driver of the car, a 22-year-old Boronia Heights man, has been transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.

The driver of the truck, a 32-year-old Jimboomba woman, was not injured in the crash.

Investigations are continuing.

Missing man, Mount Gravatt East

Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate a man missing from Mount Gravatt East.

Dennis Frazer was last seen at a care home on Creek Road at around 9pm yesterday.

Mr Frazer (pictured) is described as 160cm tall, slim build, Caucasian in appearance with grey hair.

Police hold fears for welfare as it is unusual for him to leave the home.

He suffers a medical condition and may be confused or disorientated.

Anyone who sees him is urged to contact police.

Major Crash calling for witnesses

Major Crash Officers are calling for witnesses into last nights tragic incidents at St Mary’s.

About 9.30pm, Tuesday 13 June, emergency services were called to the intersection of Ayliffes and Shepherds Hill Roads where a man sadly died after being hit by a crane.

Investigators want to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or have dash cam footage. Especially from those people stopped at the intersection at the time of the incident, particularly those westbound vehicles on Ayliffes Rd.
