Man charged following assault – Kings Langley

New South Wales Police on Sunday, 11/06/2017 09:00 AEST

A man has been charged after an incident at a home in Kings Langley overnight.

About 8.45pm on Saturday 10 June 2017, a 52-year-old man attended an address in Simpson Place armed with what was believed to be a handgun.

The occupant of the home, a 39-year-old man saw the weapon and contacted police.

Officers responded from Quakers Hill Local Area Command supported by POLAIR and determined that the man had left the area.

His vehicle was later located in Kinnane Avenue at Acacia Gardens.

Solved – Mystery of Rock SOS

On 25 May 2017, Kalumburu Police asked for the public’s assistance in relation to locating the person who made an SOS sign from rocks in the Swift Bay area of the Kimberley. The information was spread by WA Police’s Facebook pages and was picked up by various media outlets around the world, resulting in a person reading the story from the BBC in London.

The person contacted Kalumburu Police to say they believed they knew the person who created the sign after being stranded on Swift Bay back in 2013. Further inquiries by Kalumburu Police confirmed that the sign was made by a man in June 2013 and his story is quite amazing.

The man and a friend were sailing a yacht in the Kimberley and using an inflatable dinghy went ashore in Swift Bay, Montague Sound to look for a fresh water spring and Aboriginal rock art. They tied the dinghy to a rock and when they saw a 3.5metre crocodile swimming towards them, they got out of the dinghy and scrambled onto the rock as the crocodile took a large bite out of the dinghy.

The dingy deflated and they were stranded with the crocodile remaining in the area. They managed to climb further up the rocks where they remained huddled all night.

Serious Crash – Hamelin Pool

Shark Bay Police are seeking the public’s assistance for information regarding a serious crash that occurred yesterday, Saturday 10 June 2017 in Hamelin Pool.

Around 9am, a man was driving a white Nissan Patrol towing a caged trailer north along the North West Coastal Highway. Near the mileage signpost WM40, the vehicle and trailer drifted onto the gravel shoulder. The driver lost control and the vehicle rolled several times.

The 38 year old male driver and his 39 year old female passenger were thrown from the vehicle. Four children aged between 7 and 12 years of age were rear passengers in the vehicle.

The adults received serious injuries and were flown by the Royal Flying Doctor Service to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment.

Two of the children received minor injuries and all four children (three boys and one girl) were flown by the Royal Flying Doctor Service to Princess Margaret Hospital.

Man charged following assault – Pyrmont

A man has been charged after an assault in Pyrmont last night.

About 11.10pm (Saturday 10 June 2017), police were called to a licensed premise on Pyrmont Street, after reports of an assault.

Officers from Sydney City Local Area Command attended and located a 43-year-old man who had been punched, knocking him unconscious.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a stable condition.

Following inquiries, a 28-year-old man was arrested and taken to Day Street Police Station.

Well over the limit in the Knox area

Knox police members have removed two drink drivers from our roads overnight.

They intercepted a vehicle on Adele Avenue in Ferntree Gully just before 1am.

The 43-year-old Ferntree Gully man driving failed a breath test and was taken to Knox Police Station where he returned an evidentiary breath test of 0.206%.

It was also discovered he was unlicensed and was driving an unregistered vehicle.

Not long after, police intercepted a vehicle on Dorset Road in Croydon.

Man charged with nine armed robberies of taxis – Inner Sydney

A man has been charged with nine alleged armed robberies of taxi drivers following investigations by Sydney City Detectives.

Police were called to two armed robberies on Wednesday 17 and Thursday 18 May 2017, in the Ultimo area. During these incidents a knife was allegedly produced and cash was stolen.

About 10pm on Wednesday (7 June 2017), police were called to the armed robbery of a taxi driver in Ultimo. A knife was allegedly produced and cash was stolen.

Police were called to three armed robberies of taxi drivers on Thursday (8 June 2017) in the Glebe and Ultimo areas. During these incidents a knife was allegedly produced and cash and property was stolen.

About 8.10pm on Friday (9 June 2017), the attempted armed robbery of a taxi driver in Ultimo was reported to police. A knife was allegedly produced, however there were no proceeds.

Witnesses sought to fatal pedestrian crash at Rozelle

New South Wales Police on Sunday, 11/06/2017 04:29 AEST

Police are reappealing for witnesses after a fatal crash in Rozelle last month.

About 1.30pm (Tuesday 23 May 2017), emergency services were called to Gordon Street, following reports a man had been struck by a car.

Police have been told the driver of a Toyota Yaris was attempting to exit a driveway onto Gordon Street when he struck a 70-year-old man.

NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and took the man to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, where he later died.

The 84-year-old man who was driving the Yaris assisted police at the scene and was released pending further inquiries.

Police appeal for information following investigations into hydro house – Bankstown

Police are appealing for information as part of ongoing investigations into fraudulently leased homes modified for hydroponic setup.

Detectives from Bankstown Local Area Command launched an investigation in January 2017 following the discovery of a hydroponic setup at a home in School Street, Padstow.

As part of their inquiries, police established a man using fraudulent documents in the name of Thai Vu TRAN privately leased the home through an online website.

Police believe the man may have been responsible for leasing other properties across the state.

Investigations are continuing and detectives are urging anyone who may have leased a property to this person, or anyone with information to contact Bankstown Police Station via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Armed robbery – Baulkham Hills

Just before 8.45pm (Saturday 10 June 2017), a 53-year-old female employee was working behind the counter at a store in Glanmire Road, when she was confronted by two men who entered the store.

Police have been told the men armed with a cricket bat and a machete threatened the employee, demanding cash.

The pair ran from the store, taking cash and alcohol.

The staff member was uninjured.

Officers attached to The Hills Local Area Command were called and established a crime scene.

Unidentified man found in Oakleigh South

Victoria Police on Sunday, 11/06/2017 01:14 AEST

Police are appealing for public assistance to help identify a man that was located in Oakleigh South yesterday.

A member of public found the man unconscious in parkland at Karkarook Park just before 9am yesterday and contacted emergency services.

He was then taken to Monash Medical Centre, where he remains.

Attempts by police to identify the man have been fruitless and the man is unable to communicate due to a medical condition.

Police have released an image of the clothing he was wearing in the hope someone can identify him and provide police with information.

Double the risk – Vehicle impound

A Casey Highway Patrol members have impounded a car impounded in Hampton Park.

Casey Highway Patrol intercepted a red Holden Commodore, travelling 134km/h in an 80km/h zone on South Gippsland Highway about 3am.

The 50-year-old woman quickly found herself in more trouble when she returned a positive preliminary breath test.

She was escorted to Narre Warren police station where he returned an evidentiary breath test reading of 0.102%.

The woman’s car will be surrendered to police at a later date.

Man charged with offensive conduct and assault police – Martin Place

New South Wales Police on Saturday, 10/06/2017 22:29 AEST

A man has been charged after he allegedly assaulted police following his arrest for offensive behaviour in Martin Place yesterday.

About 3.10pm (Friday 10 June 2017), officers from Sydney City Local Area Command responded to reports of a man yelling and acting suspiciously in Martin Place.

Officers arrested a 27-year-old man. During a search of the man, officers allegedly located a number of items including a bag of drugs believed to be cannabis.

The items were seized and will undergo forensic examinations.

Officers are investigating reports that the man was acting suspiciously on a bus near central earlier in the afternoon.

Drugs seized in Western suburbs

Altona North Divisional Response Unit detectives have charged seven people in recent weeks after a number of warrants were executed in the western suburbs of Melbourne.

The arrests relate to an ongoing investigation into the alleged commercial cultivation of cannabis in the western suburbs area.

During the course of the warrants police seized a large quantity of cannabis

The following arrests were made:

• A 28-year-old Point Cook man was arrested and charged with cultivation of large commercial quantity of a drug of dependence.

Search for missing teen Erin Norman

Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate missing teen Erin Norman.

The 15-year-old girl was last seen at a shopping centre in Melton on 17 May with a male friend.

Police and family have concerns for her welfare due to her age and health issues.

She is described as being 165cm tall with a medium build and brown hair.

Police have released an image of Erin in the hope someone recognises her and can provide information on her current whereabouts.

Three arrested – Guildford

New South Wales Police on Saturday, 10/06/2017 17:44 AEST

About 4.45pm (Saturday 10 June 2017), police were patrolling Excelsior Street, Guildford, when they came across a man blocking the street.

Officers spoke to the man, who allegedly became aggressive. About 30 people attending a function at a nearby residence then attended and also became aggressive towards officers.

Police called for further assistance, and numerous police resources attended.

Three men were arrested, and they have been taken to Parramatta Police Station where they are assisting with inquiries.

No police were seriously injured during the incident.

Missing man found deceased – Heathcote

A man missing from Sydney’s south has been located deceased.

The 28-year-old man was last seen about 7.30am on Thursday (8 June 2017), at a home on President Avenue, Kirrawee.

Police from Sutherland Local Area Command commenced inquiries to locate him.

About 10.25am today (Saturday 10 June 2017), police located the body of the man in bushland at Heathcote.

There are no suspicious circumstances in the man’s death.

Drugs allegedly found during vehicle

A man and a woman will face court next week after they were allegedly found in possession of drugs during a vehicle search.

About 11.10pm yesterday (Friday 9 June 2017), police were patrolling The Hume Highway at Goulburn, when they stopped a Mitsubishi Mirage.

The female driver was subjected to a roadside drug test which gave a positive result.

Officers subsequently searched the vehicle allegedly locating more than 21 grams of methylamphetamine or ‘ICE’ and over 20 grams of heroin.

The 23-year-old woman and her male passenger, aged 35, were arrested and taken to Goulburn Police Station where they were charged in relation to drug supply.

Large quantity of money found in Frankston

Victoria Police on Saturday, 10/06/2017 15:50 AEST

Frankston police are hoping to locate the owner of a quantity of cash that was found yesterday.

It is believed a man found a large amount of money on a platform at the Frankston Railway Station on 9 June.

The money was then handed into the Frankston Police Station.

Police are hoping the owner will come forward to claim the money and identify the denominations, what the money was contained in and the total amount of money.

Police are not releasing the exact amount of cash.

Operation Regal nabs speedster, evader and 150 in emergency lane

Brimbank Highway Patrol officers have made it clear Operation Regal is in full swing this weekend.

It is alleged a northbound sedan was spotted illegally driving in the emergency lane on the Western Ring Road yesterday evening.

As police on foot tried to stop the vehicle, it allegedly drove around a police member and back into the emergency lane at speed, exiting at Furlong Road about 5pm.

A short time later, a Highway Patrol unit activated its lights in an attempt to intercept the vehicle on Gumtree Close when the car has taken the corner towards Camara Street and crashed into a sign.

The male driver allegedly fled on foot but was sprayed with OC foam and arrested not far from the scene of the crash.

Drivers urged to exercise caution on roads – Operation Stay Alert

With a number of motorists making poor decisions on the roads NSW Police are reminding road users to act responsibly and consider the safety of others as they travel.

Operation Stay Alert commenced at midnight on Friday 9 June 2017 and concludes at 11.59pm on Monday 12 June 2017. Double demerits are in force throughout the period.

Officers will be a highly-visible presence on the roads during the operation, targeting speeding, mobile phone use, alcohol, drug-affected drivers, fatigue and seatbelt use.

A 36-year-old man died after the car he was travelling in crashed into a tree at Yass about 12.10am today (Saturday 10 June 2017).

Assistant Commissioner Michael Corboy of the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, said he was disappointed with some driver behaviour.

POLICE MOTORBIKE RAMMED – COBURG

Victoria Police on Saturday, 10/06/2017 12:27 AEST

The State Highway Patrol Solo Unit attempted to intercept a motorbike, allegedly bearing false plates, in Bell St about 12.40pm on 9 June.

The man, riding a black Suzuki motorbike, rammed a police motorcycle in an attempt to avoid apprehension. The man lost control of his motorbike before running from members.

Police chased the man on foot along Bell Street and arrested him a short distance away.

The police motorbike received minor damage from the incident however, no one was injured.

The 30-year-old Donvale man was interviewed by police and charged with conduct endangering person, evade police, assault/resist police, driving under the influence of drugs, drive whilst disqualified and other property and traffic offences.

Calamity of errors in Highett

Victoria Police on Saturday, 10/06/2017 11:17 AEST

Moorabbin Highway Patrol officers were left shaking their heads by an unlicensed duo in Highett yesterday afternoon.

Police intercepted a vehicle on Karen Street about 5.35pm.

It was discovered the driver, a 54-year-old woman from Springvale, had a suspended licence and her car was immediately impounded for 30 days at a cost of $932.

A 22-year-old, also from Springvale, was called to come and collect her.

This woman, who raised eyebrows when she allegedly disobeyed a no U-turn sign in front of police, was also driving on a suspended licence.
