Man dies in crash near Dunedoo

New South Wales Police on Sunday, 11/06/2017 17:14 AEST

A man has died in a single vehicle rollover near Dunedoo.

About 12.50pm (Sunday 11 June 2017), emergency services were called to the Golden Highway, about 13km east of Dunedoo, after a westbound Subaru Forrester left the road and hit trees.

The front seat passenger, a man believed to be aged in his 70s, died at the scene.

The driver, a 78-year-old woman, was taken to Dubbo Base Hospital for treatment to chest pain, and for mandatory blood and urine tests.

Police from Chifley Crash Investigation Unit attended and examined the scene.

Man charged following stabbing – Wyong

New South Wales Police on Sunday, 11/06/2017 17:14 AEST

A man will face court tomorrow after he allegedly stabbed another man with a knife.

About 5.30am today (Sunday 11 June 2017), emergency services were called to a hotel on the Pacific Highway, Wyong, following reports of a stabbing.

Once at the location they located a 53-year-old man with a stab wound to his neck as wells as cuts, bruising and swelling to his head.

He was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital for treatment; however he has since been released.

A 41-year-old man was arrested nearby and taken to Wyong Police Station and charged with cause grievous bodily harm/GBH to a person with intent to murder.

Man to face court after stopped in stolen car near South Australian border

A man will face court next month after he was stopped by police in a stolen motor vehicle.

Police attached to Dareton Highway Patrol stopped a Volkswagen Golf about 11.35am yesterday (Saturday 10 June 2017), on the Sturt Highway, Monak, near the South Australian border.

The 31-year-old driver was subjected to a roadside drug test which returned a positive result and he was arrested.

Subsequent checks on the vehicle revealed it was stolen and during a search of the vehicle, officers allegedly located drug paraphernalia, knives and suspected stolen vehicle registration plates.

Police appeal for witnesses following incident in Wonthaggi

Victoria Police on Sunday, 11/06/2017 14:53 AEST

Police are appealing for public assistance following an incident in Wonthaggi this morning.

Investigators have been told a man was walking along McKenzie Road when he saw another man pointing a firearm from a distance.

The first man entered a nearby workplace and reported the incident to police.

Investigators believe the same man was brandishing a firearm and running down McKenzie Road between 7.30am and 8am.

No injuries have been reported.

Missing Man – Ronald FORD

Western Australia Police on Sunday, 11/06/2017 14:30 AEST

Police are seeking information regarding the whereabouts of missing 83 year old man Ronald Irwin FORD who was last seen leaving his Ballajura home between 9:30am and 2:30pm yesterday, Saturday 10 June 2017.

Mr FORD left home in his white coloured Holden Commodore station wagon, registration number 1CVS023. He may be heading towards the South West.

Concerns are held for his welfare as he requires daily medication which he does not have with him.

Mr FORD is described as fair skinned, approximately 180cms tall, of slim build, with grey receding hair and green eyes. He was last seen wearing blue trousers, a black and white check shirt and brown tennis shoes.

Anyone who sees Mr FORD, or who has any information regarding his whereabouts, is asked to call Police immediately on 131 444.

Three charged after police assaulted – Guildford

New South Wales Police on Sunday, 11/06/2017 14:29 AEST

Three men have been charged after police were assaulted in Sydney’s west.

About 4.45pm (Saturday 10 June 2017), police from Rosehill Traffic and Highway Patrol were patrolling Excelsior Street, Guildford, when they came across a male blocking the street.

Officers spoke to 17-year-old teenager, who allegedly became aggressive. Police will allege another three men approached them and became aggressive, before a crowd surrounded them.

One man allegedly armed himself with a metal bollard with police using OC spray to disperse the crowd.

Officers called for further assistance, and numerous police resources attended.

Day 2: Police urge drivers not to drink and drive – Operation Stay Alert

New South Wales Police on Sunday, 11/06/2017 13:00 AEST

Police remain concerned about the number of motorists detected drink driving following Day 2 of Operation Stay Alert.

Operation Stay Alert commenced at midnight on Friday 9 June 2017 and concludes at 11.59pm on Monday 12 June 2017. Double demerits are in force throughout the period.

Officers will be a highly-visible presence on the roads during the operation, targeting speeding, mobile phone use, alcohol, drug-affected drivers, fatigue and seatbelt use.

Assistant Commissioner Michael Corboy of the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, said he was disappointed that some drivers continue to take risks by driving while intoxicated.

“Don’t drink and drive is a simple message, yet for some reason, some people still choose to ignore the message, putting their own lives and the lives of others at risk,” Assistant Commissioner Corboy said.

Man dies in Baxter collision

Victoria Police on Sunday, 11/06/2017 12:41 AEST

A man has died following a collision in Baxter this afternoon.

It is believed an SUV and a motorcycle collided on Fultons Road between Golf Links and Baxter-Tooradin roads just after 11.10am.

The male rider of the motorcycle died at the scene.

The occupants of the car, a man and woman, stopped and assisted at the scene.

They have been conveyed to hospital for observation.

Man found with head injuries – Wyong

New South Wales Police on Sunday, 11/06/2017 11:44 AEST

Police are investigating after a man was found with head injuries in car park on the state’s Central Coast.

Emergency services were called to the car park of a club on Lake Haven Drive, Wyong, just before 7.30am today (Sunday 11 June 2017), following reports a man had been located near his car with a head injury.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the 60-year-old man at the scene before taking him to Wyong Hospital in a stable condition.

Officers attached to Tuggerah Lakes Local Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Initial inquiries suggest the man, who was asleep in his car, was approached and assaulted.

Fatal Structure Fire – Austins Road, Turners Marsh

Preliminary fire scene investigations has determined the fire may have been caused by an electrical fault. Investigations are continuing and a report will be compiled for the Coroner.

Structure Fire – Youd Court, Deloraine

Preliminary fire scene investigations has determined the fire has been deliberately lit. Anyone who may have information in relation to the fire is urged to contact Crime Stoppers or the Launceston Criminal Investigation Branch.

Wembley Serious Crash

Western Australia Police on Sunday, 11/06/2017 09:27 AEST

Traffic Enforcement Group officers are seeking information regarding a serious crash that occurred on Saturday 10 June 2017 in Wembley.

Between 5:30pm and 5:45pm, a woman was driving her black Vespa scooter along Harborne Street. At the intersection of Harborne and Cambridge Streets, a vehicle turned right onto Cambridge Street directly in her path. The Vespa slid from under the woman and she was thrown to the ground.

The vehicle that turned into her path stopped briefly before driving away. It is believed the vehicle was a dark coloured four wheel drive.

The 28 year old woman from Osborne Park was taken to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital for treatment.

Several people assisted the woman and Police would like to speak to them as well as anyone who saw the crash.

Man charged following assault – Kings Langley

A man has been charged after an incident at a home in Kings Langley overnight.

About 8.45pm on Saturday 10 June 2017, a 52-year-old man attended an address in Simpson Place armed with what was believed to be a handgun.

The occupant of the home, a 39-year-old man saw the weapon and contacted police.

Officers responded from Quakers Hill Local Area Command supported by POLAIR and determined that the man had left the area.

His vehicle was later located in Kinnane Avenue at Acacia Gardens.

Solved – Mystery of Rock SOS

On 25 May 2017, Kalumburu Police asked for the public’s assistance in relation to locating the person who made an SOS sign from rocks in the Swift Bay area of the Kimberley. The information was spread by WA Police’s Facebook pages and was picked up by various media outlets around the world, resulting in a person reading the story from the BBC in London.

The person contacted Kalumburu Police to say they believed they knew the person who created the sign after being stranded on Swift Bay back in 2013. Further inquiries by Kalumburu Police confirmed that the sign was made by a man in June 2013 and his story is quite amazing.

The man and a friend were sailing a yacht in the Kimberley and using an inflatable dinghy went ashore in Swift Bay, Montague Sound to look for a fresh water spring and Aboriginal rock art. They tied the dinghy to a rock and when they saw a 3.5metre crocodile swimming towards them, they got out of the dinghy and scrambled onto the rock as the crocodile took a large bite out of the dinghy.

The dingy deflated and they were stranded with the crocodile remaining in the area. They managed to climb further up the rocks where they remained huddled all night.

Serious Crash – Hamelin Pool

Shark Bay Police are seeking the public’s assistance for information regarding a serious crash that occurred yesterday, Saturday 10 June 2017 in Hamelin Pool.

Around 9am, a man was driving a white Nissan Patrol towing a caged trailer north along the North West Coastal Highway. Near the mileage signpost WM40, the vehicle and trailer drifted onto the gravel shoulder. The driver lost control and the vehicle rolled several times.

The 38 year old male driver and his 39 year old female passenger were thrown from the vehicle. Four children aged between 7 and 12 years of age were rear passengers in the vehicle.

The adults received serious injuries and were flown by the Royal Flying Doctor Service to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment.

Two of the children received minor injuries and all four children (three boys and one girl) were flown by the Royal Flying Doctor Service to Princess Margaret Hospital.

Man charged following assault – Pyrmont

A man has been charged after an assault in Pyrmont last night.

About 11.10pm (Saturday 10 June 2017), police were called to a licensed premise on Pyrmont Street, after reports of an assault.

Officers from Sydney City Local Area Command attended and located a 43-year-old man who had been punched, knocking him unconscious.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a stable condition.

Following inquiries, a 28-year-old man was arrested and taken to Day Street Police Station.

Well over the limit in the Knox area

Knox police members have removed two drink drivers from our roads overnight.

They intercepted a vehicle on Adele Avenue in Ferntree Gully just before 1am.

The 43-year-old Ferntree Gully man driving failed a breath test and was taken to Knox Police Station where he returned an evidentiary breath test of 0.206%.

It was also discovered he was unlicensed and was driving an unregistered vehicle.

Not long after, police intercepted a vehicle on Dorset Road in Croydon.

Man charged with nine armed robberies of taxis – Inner Sydney

A man has been charged with nine alleged armed robberies of taxi drivers following investigations by Sydney City Detectives.

Police were called to two armed robberies on Wednesday 17 and Thursday 18 May 2017, in the Ultimo area. During these incidents a knife was allegedly produced and cash was stolen.

About 10pm on Wednesday (7 June 2017), police were called to the armed robbery of a taxi driver in Ultimo. A knife was allegedly produced and cash was stolen.

Police were called to three armed robberies of taxi drivers on Thursday (8 June 2017) in the Glebe and Ultimo areas. During these incidents a knife was allegedly produced and cash and property was stolen.

About 8.10pm on Friday (9 June 2017), the attempted armed robbery of a taxi driver in Ultimo was reported to police. A knife was allegedly produced, however there were no proceeds.

Witnesses sought to fatal pedestrian crash at Rozelle

Police are reappealing for witnesses after a fatal crash in Rozelle last month.

About 1.30pm (Tuesday 23 May 2017), emergency services were called to Gordon Street, following reports a man had been struck by a car.

Police have been told the driver of a Toyota Yaris was attempting to exit a driveway onto Gordon Street when he struck a 70-year-old man.

NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and took the man to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, where he later died.

The 84-year-old man who was driving the Yaris assisted police at the scene and was released pending further inquiries.

Police appeal for information following investigations into hydro house – Bankstown

Police are appealing for information as part of ongoing investigations into fraudulently leased homes modified for hydroponic setup.

Detectives from Bankstown Local Area Command launched an investigation in January 2017 following the discovery of a hydroponic setup at a home in School Street, Padstow.

As part of their inquiries, police established a man using fraudulent documents in the name of Thai Vu TRAN privately leased the home through an online website.

Police believe the man may have been responsible for leasing other properties across the state.

Investigations are continuing and detectives are urging anyone who may have leased a property to this person, or anyone with information to contact Bankstown Police Station via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Armed robbery – Baulkham Hills

Just before 8.45pm (Saturday 10 June 2017), a 53-year-old female employee was working behind the counter at a store in Glanmire Road, when she was confronted by two men who entered the store.

Police have been told the men armed with a cricket bat and a machete threatened the employee, demanding cash.

The pair ran from the store, taking cash and alcohol.

The staff member was uninjured.

Officers attached to The Hills Local Area Command were called and established a crime scene.

Unidentified man found in Oakleigh South

Police are appealing for public assistance to help identify a man that was located in Oakleigh South yesterday.

A member of public found the man unconscious in parkland at Karkarook Park just before 9am yesterday and contacted emergency services.

He was then taken to Monash Medical Centre, where he remains.

Attempts by police to identify the man have been fruitless and the man is unable to communicate due to a medical condition.

Police have released an image of the clothing he was wearing in the hope someone can identify him and provide police with information.

Double the risk – Vehicle impound

A Casey Highway Patrol members have impounded a car impounded in Hampton Park.

Casey Highway Patrol intercepted a red Holden Commodore, travelling 134km/h in an 80km/h zone on South Gippsland Highway about 3am.

The 50-year-old woman quickly found herself in more trouble when she returned a positive preliminary breath test.

She was escorted to Narre Warren police station where he returned an evidentiary breath test reading of 0.102%.

The woman’s car will be surrendered to police at a later date.

Man charged with offensive conduct and assault police – Martin Place

New South Wales Police on Saturday, 10/06/2017 22:29 AEST

A man has been charged after he allegedly assaulted police following his arrest for offensive behaviour in Martin Place yesterday.

About 3.10pm (Friday 10 June 2017), officers from Sydney City Local Area Command responded to reports of a man yelling and acting suspiciously in Martin Place.

Officers arrested a 27-year-old man. During a search of the man, officers allegedly located a number of items including a bag of drugs believed to be cannabis.

The items were seized and will undergo forensic examinations.

Officers are investigating reports that the man was acting suspiciously on a bus near central earlier in the afternoon.

Drugs seized in Western suburbs

Victoria Police on Saturday, 10/06/2017 21:45 AEST

Altona North Divisional Response Unit detectives have charged seven people in recent weeks after a number of warrants were executed in the western suburbs of Melbourne.

The arrests relate to an ongoing investigation into the alleged commercial cultivation of cannabis in the western suburbs area.

During the course of the warrants police seized a large quantity of cannabis

The following arrests were made:

• A 28-year-old Point Cook man was arrested and charged with cultivation of large commercial quantity of a drug of dependence.
