Search for missing teen Jaydn Austin

Victoria Police on Saturday, 17/06/2017 18:35 AEST

Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate missing 14-year-old boy Jaydn Austin.

Jaydn was last seen at 1pm today at a shopping centre on Gilles St, Wendouree.

Police hold concerns for Jaydn due to his age.

He is approximately 143cm tall with a fair complexion and brown hair.

He was last seen wearing a black/green hooded jacket, blue track pants and white runners.

Search for missing teen Thompson Wongsricha

Victoria Police on Saturday, 17/06/2017 18:35 AEST

Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate missing 15-year-old St Albans teen Thompson Wongsrisha.

Thompson was last seen at an address in Gunyah Mews, St Albans approximately 2 weeks ago.

Police and his family have concerns because of his age and the time he has been missing.

Thompson is 165cms tall, with a slim build and black hair.

Thompson is known to frequent the North Melbourne, Sunshine and Deer Park areas.

OMCG arrest in traffic operation, Gold Coast

Queensland Police Service on Saturday, 17/06/2017 18:25 AEST

Gold Coast Rapid Action and Patrols (RAP) conducted a successful traffic operation today in the Numinbah Valley area targeting drug and other traffic offences.

The police operation was held on the Nerang Murwillumbah Road and involved the interception of 169 vehicles.

During the operation, four people were charged with a total of fourteen charges including two positive random drug tests, three counts of possess dangerous drug, three counts of possess restricted item, four counts of possess utensil and one count of possess category M weapon.

Included in these figures was an alleged 37-year-old Mongol OMCG member from Gaven who was charged with a total of seven charges.

The man is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on July 26.

The Gold Coast RAP continue to deliver on the Queensland Police Service commitment to detect and disrupt criminal behaviour in the Gold Coast area.

Woman stabbed, teenager charged – Whalan

New South Wales Police on Saturday, 17/06/2017 18:00 AEST

A teenager will face court next month after allegedly stabbing a woman in Whalan today.

About 2.15am (Saturday 17 June 2017), a 16-year-old girl approached a group of females outside a home on Toricelli Avenue, Whalan.

Police have been told an altercation ensued, during which a 16-year-old girl allegedly stabbed an 18-year-old woman in the chest with a piece of glass.

Officers from Mt Druitt Local Area Command were notified. Upon arrival, police found an 18-year-old woman with two stab wounds to her chest.

She was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being taken to Blacktown Hospital in a stable condition.

Man charged following road rage incident – Greystanes

A man has been charged following an alleged road rage incident on the M4 Motorway at Greystanes yesterday.

About 2pm (Friday 16 June 2017), a man was driving his Honda Jazz sedan west along the M4 near Blacktown when he became aware of a truck and trailer allegedly travelling very close behind him.

The truck continued to travel behind the sedan allegedly sounding the horn.

Police have been told the truck changed lanes driving parallel to the sedan. The driver allegedly leaned out of the window and threw an object at the windscreen causing it to fracture. The truck changed lanes in front of the car and the dog trailer collided with the sedan.

The car was forced into the centre concrete dividing barrier where it came to a stop and the truck continued west on the M4.

Prickly situation resolved in Halifax

Queensland Police Service on Saturday, 17/06/2017 16:35 AEST

A prickly situation was declared in Halifax yesterday after Senior Constable Shelley Mills received a call from a local resident worried that her dog might hurt an echidna that was under her house.

Even though she was off duty, Senior Constable Mills rushed over to help and set about coordinating a very pointed search and rescue mission.

The echidna was found safe and well, and released nearby in a safe area – away from humans, vehicles and curious doggos.

Just another day in Halifax helping to keep the whole community – even the prickly ones – safe!

Missing Emerald Man – Nathan Dompietro

Victoria Police on Saturday, 17/06/2017 16:30 AEST

A police search is currently underway in the Bunyip State Forest for missing Gembrook man Nathan Dompietro.

The 26-year-old was last seen in Bunyip State Forest at 7.30am yesterday.

Police and family members hold concerns for his welfare.

Nathan was last seen wearing a pale t-shirt, possibly light blue, a blue flannelette jacket, khaki green pants and cream coloured work boots. He is described as 178cms tall, medium build with brown hair and blue eyes.

Investigators have released images of Nathan in the hope someone recognises him and can provide information on his current whereabouts.

Search for missing man Thomas Maginn

Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate missing Footscray man Thomas Maginn.

The 35-year-old was last seen at his Errol Street residence about 12pm today.

Police and family have concerns for him as he suffers from a medical condition that requires regular medication.

He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, black jacket and faded ripped jeans.

Police have released an image of Thomas in the hope someone can provide information on his whereabouts.

Man charged following Epping siege

A man has appeared at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today following an alleged siege in Wedge Street, Epping yesterday.

A 26-year-old Thomastown man has been charged with possess imitation firearm and other firearms and bail-related offences.

Fatal aircraft crash near Bathurst

New South Wales Police on Saturday, 17/06/2017 16:14 AEST

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner after the death of a man in a light aircraft crash near Bathurst.

The plane left an airfield at Upper Turon, north of Bathurst, about 2pm yesterday (Friday 16 June 2017) and did not return as scheduled.

Emergency services were notified about 3.15pm.

Despite an extensive ground and air search yesterday, the plane could not be located. The search resumed at first light today (Saturday 17 June 2017) with the aircraft located about 8.30am in bushland in the Upper Turon area.

The body of the 44-year-old male pilot was located inside the aircraft.

Man charged after assault – Newtown

New South Wales Police on Saturday, 17/06/2017 16:14 AEST

Police have charged a man after an assault in Newtown overnight.

About 11.55pm (Friday 16 June 2017), police were called to King Street following reports of an assault.

Officers from Newtown Local Area Command attended and found a 55-year-old who had been allegedly assaulted at the location.

NSW Ambulance Paramedics attended and treated the man who was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for lacerations to his face and head.

A 19-year-old man was arrested at the scene.

Australian police withdraw from Cyprus peacekeeping mission after 53 years

Australian Federal Police on Saturday, 17/06/2017 15:30 AEST

Australian police have marked their withdrawal from the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) after more than 53 years of service.

UNFICYP is the world’s longest-running peacekeeping mission, and is focused on building and maintaining stability between the north and south of Cyprus.

Australia has contributed to UNFICYP since May 1964. A total of 111 contingents involving more than 1600 officers from all states and territories have served with UNFICYP.

Australian Federal Police Commissioner Andrew Colvin said Australian police have a proud history in Cyprus.

“We have made a positive contribution to support order and stability in Cyprus, and provide humanitarian assistance to people in need,” Commissioner Colvin said.

Pistol located during vehicle stop – Port Stephens

A man has been charged after an unregistered pistol was allegedly located during a vehicle stop at Port Stephens today.

Just after 2.30am (Saturday 17 June 2017), police from Port Stephens Local Area Command were patrolling Shoal Bay Road, Shoal Bay, when they stopped the driver of a Mazda station wagon for a random breath test.

The driver returned a negative result and was then subjected to a search.

Officers allegedly located a metal air pistol on the man which was secured for forensic analysis.

A 22-year-old man was arrested and conveyed to Nelson Bay Police Station where he was charged with possession of an unregistered pistol.

Man charged following crash – Sydney CBD

New South Wales Police on Saturday, 17/06/2017 14:00 AEST

A man has been charged in relation to a crash which led to major traffic delays in the Sydney CBD yesterday afternoon.

About 1.10pm (Friday 16 June 2017), a Lexus RCF was turning from George Street into Bathurst Street when it allegedly struck a parked concrete pumping truck at high speed.

The impact caused the 26-tonne truck to slide into the concrete kerb and crack it, and also broke the truck’s rear axle. A worker standing on top of the truck was uninjured.

The 43-year-old driver of the car suffered a broken wrist and was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital for treatment.

Traffic was significantly impacted until the truck, which was not driveable after the crash, could be moved.

Two charged after police pursuit – Nowra

Police have charged two men after a police pursuit in Nowra overnight.

Just after 11pm (Friday 16 June 2017), officers attached to Shoalhaven Local Area Command were patrolling Clipper Road, East Nowra, when they observed a stolen Volvo station wagon.

When the vehicle failed to stop for police, a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit continued through the Worrigee area, before the vehicle stopped on Bowerbird Avenue, Twin Waters.

Two men ran from the vehicle, with police pursuing on foot.

Missing teenager Isabella Birney

Investigators have been told the 14-year-old was last seen at a Cunningham Road residence at 4.30pm on 15 June and hasn’t been seen since.

Police and family members hold concerns for her welfare due to her age.

Isabella was last seen wearing a black “Mt Duneed Pony Club” hoddie and black jeans. She is described as 160cm tall, thin build, fair complexion with long brown hair.

Investigators have released an image of Isabella in the hope someone recognises her and can provide information on her current whereabouts.

Police put brakes on luxury cruise in St Albans

Sunshine police arrested two people overnight after stumbling across an allegedly stolen car in St Albans.

Patrolling officers noticed the white Porsche parked on Lahy Street about 3.20am and didn’t take much time to realise it was previously listed stolen.

Upon searching the vehicle, police also discovered an allegedly homemade firearm and taser inside and arrested two people at the scene.

A 43-year-old Roxburgh Park man will face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today over charges including theft of motor vehicle, handle stolen goods and possess handgun.

A 39-year-old Taylors Lakes woman was released pending summons.

Newcomb liquor store armed robbery

Geelong Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for information to help identify two men believed to be involved in an armed robbery at Newcomb last night.

Two men carrying firearms entered the Watsons Road liquor store just after 10.30pm.

Both men who had their faces covered were armed with firearms, confronted two male and staff stole a quantity of cash and cigarettes before fleeing the store.

The first offender is described as Caucasian, around 175 cm tall, stocky build and wearing a black long-sleeve hoody top with a blue top underneath, a black vest with a hood, black peaked cap and dark tracksuit pants with two white stripes.

He wore black gloves with a white print on the back of the hands.

Four teenagers arrested ramming police cars

Police have arrested four teenagers after a divisional van and a police car were allegedly rammed in Sale by a teenage girl driving a stolen car this morning.

The incident began around 9.00am when police spotted the stolen car on Princes Street, Traralgon.

Police used a mobile phone in the vehicle to track where it was going over a distance of 50 kilometres.

The car was driven to Rosedale where a local police car attempted to intercept it on the Princes Highway in Kilmany but the car evaded police and headed towards Sale.

The vehicle was followed by police in a divisional van and a police car into an industrial estate in Sale, where both vehicles were rammed by the stolen car before fleeing.

Appeal after unit fire – Newcastle area

Police are appealing for information after a unit fire that left a man with smoke inhalation in Newcastle today.

About 6am (Saturday 17 June 2017), emergency services were called to a unit block on Fowler Street, Hamilton South, after reports of a fire.

Fire & Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the blaze.

A 46-year-old male resident was taken to John Hunter Hospital with minor smoke inhalation.

A crime scene was established. Police are treating the fire as suspicious.

Car crashes into police vehicles – Granville

A man has been taken to hospital after the car he was driving crashed into two police vehicles parked outside Granville Police Station this morning.

Just after 8.30am (Saturday 17 June 2017), a 44-year-old man was driving a Toyota sedan in Carlton Street when he hit a parked police sedan.

This impact caused the police vehicle to hit another police sedan parked in front.

An officer was seated in the driver’s seat of the second car; however, was not injured.

The police vehicles sustained minor damage.

Man arrested for drug supply – Ballina

New South Wales Police on Saturday, 17/06/2017 12:14 AEST

Police have arrested and charged a man with drug offences in the state’s north.

About 3.30pm yesterday (Friday 16 June 2017), officers from the Tweed/Byron Target Action Group stopped and searched a 41-year-old man in the car park of the Ballina-Byron Airport at Ballina.

Officers seized 110g of methylamphetamine and a small amount of ketamine, arresting the man and taking him to Ballina Police Station.

A search warrant was conducted at the man’s home in Byron Bay where a number of items were seized for further examination.

The man has now been charged with supply prohibited drug (greater than indictable quantity) and two counts of possess prohibited drug.

Hit and run traffic crash, Noosa Heads

Queensland Police Service on Saturday, 17/06/2017 12:12 AEST

Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle that was involved in a hit and run traffic crash at Noosa Heads last night.

Preliminary investigations suggest around 2am, a 16-year-old Tewantin boy was struck by what is believed to have been either a white, silver or grey Toyota Prado while he was crossing David Lowe Way between Cooyar Street and Bicentennial Drive.

The vehicle failed to stop at the scene and police located vehicle parts nearby.

The boy was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The vehicle police are looking for is missing a Toyota badge from the front.

Police would like the driver to come forward to help crash investigators understand the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Armed robbery, Brighton

Police are investigating the armed robbery of a newsagent in Brighton this morning.

At 6.30am, a man armed with a large knife entered the Beaconsfield Terrace shop and demanded cash and cigarettes from the 66-year-old female employee.

The man left the scene with a sum of money.

The staff member was not physically injured.

The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, around 178cm tall with a slim build and was wearing a grey hooded jumper, black track pants with a red stripe, red gloves, white joggers and had his face covered with a dark-coloured bandanna.

Police are appealing for anyone with further information to contact Policelink or Crime Stoppers.

Investigations are continuing.

Six people arrested following search warrant – Cameron Park

Six people have been arrested after police executed a search warrant at a house at Cameron Park in the Lake Macquarie area.

Over the past months the Lake Macquarie Target Action Group have been investigating car thefts in the Lake Macquarie and Newcastle Local Area Commands.

About 11.25am yesterday (16 June 2017), police from the Lake Macquarie and Newcastle TAG, detectives, general duties officers, Traffic & Highway Patrol officers, Police Rescue Unit and the Dog Unit executed a search warrant at a house in Springvale Circuit.

Police searched the house locating a number of items suspected of being stolen, including a car.

A 24-year-old man was located in the roof cavity and was arrested. Five other males were arrested and they were all taken to Waratah Police Station.

Witnesses sought to fire in Kambah

Wilful and obscene exposure – Pakenham

Police are seeking public assistance to help identify a man following an incident in Pakenham on 8 June.

Investigators have been told a boy had been within a school yard about 3.10pm when he noticed a man standing on The Avenue and lifting his shirt.

When the boy turned to face him, the man pulled down his pants and exposed his buttocks.

The man is described as Caucasian, aged in his mid-20s and about 160cm tall with a solid build, fair skin and short curly hair.

He was wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and black shoes.

Four arrested after pursuit – Clyde

New South Wales Police on Saturday, 17/06/2017 09:14 AEST

Four teenagers have been arrested after a police pursuit involving a stolen car in Sydney’s west.

Just after 1.30pm yesterday (Friday 16 June 2017), a Traffic and Highway Patrol officer attempted to stop a stolen car in the Harris Park area, but the vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit commenced.

The stolen car was followed to Clyde where it stopped near the railway station. Four youths exited the car and fled on foot.

The Traffic and Highway Patrol officer with assistance from local officers gave chase on foot with three teenagers arrested nearby. They were taken to Parramatta Police Station.

A fourth teenager later attended the police station and was also arrested.

Shooting – Rooty Hill

New South Wales Police on Saturday, 17/06/2017 07:44 AEST

Police are investigating after shots were fired at a house in Sydney’s west on Thursday.

About 9.45pm (Thursday 15 June 2017), a resident of a home at Albert Street, Rooty Hill, heard a number of shots fired, with a number of windows at the front of the home also shattered by an unknown object.

Three people in the home at the time were uninjured.

Police from Mt Druitt Local Area Command were told about the incident the following day and established a crime scene. A number of projectiles were seized.

Detectives are now appealing for information from any person who has information about the incident.

Crop busted – Operation Chronos in Narre Warren South and Pakenham

Police from the Dandenong Divisional Response Unit executed three search warrants in Melbourne south east last week as part of Operation Chronos.

Operation Chronos, a joint operation between the Drug Task Force and regional investigators, focuses on the detection of cannabis crop houses and associated organised crime syndicates across the state.

The three search warrants were executed in Tangerine Drive and Harrington Drive, Narre Warren South, and Thwaites Road, Pakenham early on Thursday morning (15/06).

A 47-year-old Hallam man was arrested after he was found hiding inside an alleged crop house on Harrington Drive.

He has been charged with cultivate a narcotic plant and has been remanded to appear the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 28 July.

Man dies after being struck by bus – Sydney CBD

A man has died after being hit by a bus early this morning.

About 3.15am (Saturday 17 June 2017), emergency services were called to Bathurst Street, Sydney, following reports a man had been struck by a bus.

Officers from Sydney City Local Area Command and emergency services attended, however the man, believed to be aged his in 20s, died at the scene.

Inquiries in the crash are continuing.

House fire – Windsor

Just after 1.30am (Saturday 17 June 2017), emergency services were called to Harris Street following reports of a house.

Officers from Hawkesbury Local Area Command attended and found the house well alight.

Fire & Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the blaze.

No one was injured during the incident.

Initial inquiries suggested the fire is not suspicious.

Hampton drink driver

Victoria Police on Saturday, 17/06/2017 03:04 AEST

A man has been taken off the road after allegedly being caught drink driving in Hampton this evening.

Casey Highway Patrol intercepted the driver as he attempted to leave a licenced venue on Hallam Road in Hampton about 9pm.

The 38-year-old Hampton man returned an evidentiary breath test reading of 0.176% BAC.

The man’s licence was immediately suspended for 12 months and he had his car impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1005.

He is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving offences.

Police appeal for information after children approached – Barham

Police are appealing for information after children were approached in Barham earlier this week.

Police have been told about 5pm (Thursday 15 June 2017), two children, aged 10 and 9, were playing in Riverside Park on Murray Street.

The children were approached by a man who offered them lollies.

The children ran from the man and he left the location in an unknown direction.

Officers from Deniliquin Local Area Command are investigating the incident and wish to speak to a man who they believe can assist with their inquiries.

Man charged after alleged attempted armed robbery – Revesby

A man has been charged after an alleged attempted armed robbery outside a shopping centre in Revesby yesterday.

Police have been told a man allegedly armed with a firearm, approached a man outside a shopping centre on Selems Parade, Revesby just before 10.45am (Friday 16 June 2017).

Two men had allegedly jumped out of a car and a third person remained in the vehicle during the incident.

The three men fled empty handed in a vehicle.

No one was injured in the incident and no shots were fired.

Search for missing Pakenham teen Allysia Hayes

Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate missing Pakenham teenager Allysia Hayes.

The 14-year-old was last seen at a high school in Pakenham at 3.30pm on 15 June.

Police are concerned for Allysia’s welfare due to her age.

Allysia is known to frequent the Melbourne CBD.

Investigators have released an image of Allysia in the hope someone recognises her and can provide information regarding her current whereabouts.

Attempted robbery charges, Toogoolawah

Police have charged a man with attempted armed robbery follow an emergent situation in Toogoolawah this morning.

At around 9.15am police attended an address in Bellambi Street, Toogoolawah to speak to a man in relation to an alleged robbery with violence in Ipswich earlier that day.

A declaration under the PSPA was issued a short time later and police established an exclusion zone 500 meters around the dwelling.

At approximately 4pm, police located and arrested the man in bushland near Bellambi Street.

A 25-year-old Zillmere man has been charged with one count each of attempted armed robbery, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, obstruct police, fail to dispose of needle and authority required to possess explosives.

He is due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on June 19.

Investigations are continuing.

Man charged over alleged sexual assault at Belongil Beach – SCC Sex Crimes Squad

A man has been arrested at Coffs Harbour and charged over the alleged sexual assault of a woman at a beach near Byron Bay last week.

Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Sex Crimes Squad and Tweed/Byron Local Area Command established Strike Force Kabbera to investigate reports of a sexual assault at Belongil Beach, Tyagarah, on Monday 5 June 2017.

The 31-year-old woman told police she was at the beach (about 5km south of Brunswick Heads Surf Club) about 5pm, when she was approached by an unknown man and sexually assaulted.

After she escaped, she ran to a hotel on Childe St, Byron Bay, where staff assisted her and notified police.

Local police attended the hotel before the woman was taken to Byron Bay Hospital for treatment.

Man arrested following series of motor vehicle thefts across Shepparton

Shepparton police have arrested a man following a number of burglaries and motor vehicle thefts in the area.

The thefts allegedly occurred across May and June in Shepparton, Cobram and Toolamba.

A 21-year-old Shepparton man was arrested in Toolamba tonight and is currently assisting police with their enquiries.

Missing boy located – Fairfield Heights

A boy missing from Fairfield Heights has been located.

The 12-year-old who was reported missing earlier this evening has been found safe and well.

Armed robbery at Mount Gambier

Police are investigating an armed robbery at a supermarket in Mount Gambier tonight.

Just after 7pm, Friday 16 June, a man armed with a knife entered a store on Swallow Drive and threatened staff before leaving with cash.

Thankfully the victim was not physically injured.

The suspect is described as Caucasian, 175cm tall, wearing a black and white jacket and light coloured pants. He was also wearing a black balaclava.

Woman struck by car – Merrylands

A woman is in a serious condition in hospital after being struck by a car in Sydney’s west.

About 5.35pm (Friday 16 June 2017), a woman, believed to be aged in her 60s, was struck by an eastbound hatchback at the intersection of Merrylands Road and Ridge Street, Merrylands.

She has been taken to Westmead Hospital where she is understood to be in a serious condition.

The male driver of the car was uninjured. He has been taken to Westmead Hospital for a mandatory blood and urine sample.

The Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit are currently on scene conducting inquiries.

Missing boy – Fairfield Heights

Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate a child missing from Sydney’s south west.

Elias, Ochana, aged 12, was last seen about 4pm today (Friday 16 June 2017), near the intersection of Nile and Stanley Streets, Fairfield Heights.

He has not been seen since this time and police and family have concerns for his welfare.

He is described as Middle Eastern appearance, medium build, and when he was last seen he was wearing a green jumper, black pants, and was riding a small blue bicycle.
