Missing woman Karen Curnow

Victoria Police on Saturday, 10/06/2017 10:58 AEST

Investigators have been told the 57-year-old left a Chetwyn Court residence sometime between 3pm and 4pm on 9 June to go shopping but hasn’t been seen since.

It is believed Karen was travelling in a red 2005 model Toyota sedan with registration TOL222.

Police and family members hold concerns for her welfare.

Investigators have released an image of Karen in the hope someone recognises her and can provide information on her current whereabouts.

Anyone who sights Karen or has information on her whereabouts is urged to contact Frankston Police Station on 9784 5555 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Missing man Paul Krieger

Victoria Police on Saturday, 10/06/2017 10:18 AEST

The 38-year-old Forest Hill man was last seen travelling home on a bus about 3.30pm on 9 June.

Police and family members hold concerns for Paul’s safety as he has an intellectual disability.

Paul enjoys catching trains and is known to frequent the Metro rail network.

He is described as having a large build, blond fair hair, blue eyes and a fair complexion, and was last seen wearing a black windcheater, grey track pants and black runners.

Police have released an image of Paul in the hope someone can provide information on his whereabouts.

Two males charged over siege – Warrawong

New South Wales Police on Saturday, 10/06/2017 09:14 AEST

Two males will appear in court after they were charged following a siege at Warrawong overnight.

About 9.15pm on Friday 9 June 2017, police were called to Churchill Avenue following reports of people attempting to enter the premises through the roof.

Officers from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command attended and located two males in the roof cavity of the premises.

Upon the arrival of the officers the two males forced their way onto the roof and started to throw roof tiles at the attending police.

A significant number of police resources were called to the location including general duties, criminal investigation, proactive crime team, rescue unit, dog unit and highway patrol.

Police investigate two taxi driver robberies – Surry Hills

New South Wales Police on Saturday, 10/06/2017 08:44 AEST

Police are investigating the robbery of a two taxi drivers overnight in Surry Hills and attempting to determine if it is linked to several recent similar incidents.

About 1am today (Saturday 10 June 2017), a taxi driver travelling north on Harris Street at Pyrmont was hailed by a man near Allen Street and directed to drive to Surry Hills.

At the intersection of Gladstone and Hart Street the driver was asked to stop the vehicle.

Police have been told that the man then produced a knife and threatened the 35-year-old taxi driver and demanded money.

The driver told the man that he had no money but he was again threatened at knifepoint and a further demand for money was made.

Armed robbery of supermarket – Balmain

New South Wales Police on Saturday, 10/06/2017 08:14 AEST

Police are investigating the armed robbery of a supermarket in Balmain last night.

Just before 9.30pm (Friday 9 June 2017), two employees, aged 21 and 33, were working behind the counter at a supermarket on Darling Street, when they were confronted by two males who ran into the store.

Police have been told the men armed with a small axe and a knife threatened the employees, demanding cash.

The pair ran from the rear of the store into the car park, taking cash.

The staff members and a number of customers in the store at the time were uninjured.

Woman charged over stabbing – Nowra

New South Wales Police on Saturday, 10/06/2017 08:00 AEST

A woman has been charged after a domestic stabbing at Bomaderry yesterday.

About 3.30am on Friday 9 June 2017, a 46-year-old man was stabbed three times in the shoulder after answering a knock at his door on Alfred Street, Bomaderry.

The offender fled the scene following the incident.

Police from Shoalhaven Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

The man was taken to Shoalhaven Hospital, where he was treated for non life threatening injuries and subsequently released.

Woodvale Armed Robbery

Western Australia Police on Saturday, 10/06/2017 07:15 AEST

Regional Investigations Unit detectives are seeking information regarding an armed robbery at a liquor store on Friday, 9 June 2017.

Just after 8pm a man armed with what appeared to be a handgun, entered the store located on Tapping Drive in Woodvale. He threatened staff members and demanded money. He fled the store after being given a sum of cash.

The offender is described as being in his 40s, fair skinned, approximately 183cms tall, with a medium build. He was wearing a hooded top and dark coloured track suit pants.

Detectives would like to anyone who was in the vicinity of robbery who may have seen the incident or the man.

Morley Fatal Crash

Western Australia Police on Saturday, 10/06/2017 06:52 AEST

Major Crash officers are investigating a fatal crash that occurred in Morley at approximately 5:30pm yesterday, Friday 9 June 2017.

A white Kawasaki motorcycle travelling north on Crimea Street collided with a blue Holden Commodore sedan at the intersection of Westlake Road and Crimea Street.

The motorcycle rider, a 23 year old man from Landsdale received life threatening injuries and was conveyed by ambulance to Royal Perth Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the Commodore, a 37 year old woman from Morley was not injured.

Major Crash investigators would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the crash or either vehicle prior to the crash.

Shots fired – West Hoxton

New South Wales Police on Saturday, 10/06/2017 05:14 AEST

About 7pm (Friday 9 June 2017), multiple shots were fired into the fence of a home on Twenty Second Avenue.

A man and woman home at the time were uninjured.

Officers from Green Valley Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene which has been examined by forensic specialists.

Initial inquiries suggest the incident is targeted.

Berwick drink driver

Victoria Police on Saturday, 10/06/2017 04:52 AEST

They observed an Audi on Clyde Road about 3am, almost colliding with a traffic light.

The vehicle was pulled over and it was found to have a cancelled registration.

The 42-year-old Berwick man was breath tested and returned a positive reading.

He was taken back to Pakenham Police Station where he returned an evidentiary breath test of 0.172%.

He has had his license immediately suspended for 12 months and he will be charged on summons with drink driving and other traffic related offences.

Man charged over stabbing – Redfern

New South Wales Police on Saturday, 10/06/2017 04:44 AEST

A man has been charged after a stabbing in Redfern last night.

Just after 11pm (Friday 9 June 2017, a 49-year-old man was stabbed in the abdomen at a unit in Elizabeth Street, Redfern.

Officers from Redfern Local Area Command attended and arrested a 62-year-old man.

The younger man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to St Vincent’s Hospital, in a serious but stable condition.

The older man was taken to Redfern Police Station where he was charged with wound person intend to cause grievous bodily harm.

Man dies in single vehicle crash near Yass

New South Wales Police on Saturday, 10/06/2017 03:44 AEST

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal single vehicle crash near Yass overnight.

About 12.10am (Saturday 10 June 2016), emergency services were called to Dalton Road, Dalton, about 40km north east of Yass, following reports a Nissan Patrol utility had hit a tree.

A driver, a 36-year-old man, suffered fatal injuries and he died at the scene.

Officers from The Hume Local Area Command attended the scene.

An investigation into the crash is underway.

Man seriously injured after crash near Wollongong

New South Wales Police on Saturday, 10/06/2017 03:44 AEST

A man has been seriously injured after a crash south of Sydney yesterday.

About 10pm (Friday 9 June 2017), emergency services were called to Picton Road, Cordeaux, north east of Wollongong, after reports of a crash.

Initial inquiries suggest, a 25-year-old man stopped to assist the driver of a Holden Commodore, when it was hit by a Hyundai Elantra, trapping the man between the Commodore and his own Isuzu Dmax.

The man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedic for serious injuries to his legs before he was transferred to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition. His injuries are not considered life threatening.

Officers from Wollongong Local Area Command attended and will investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Stradbroke fatal collision

Victoria Police on Saturday, 10/06/2017 02:52 AEST

It is believed the two motorbikes collided head on just before 12.30am on an unnamed road near Baldwins Lane.

A 24-year-old man died at the scene.

The other rider, a 22-year-old man, has been airlifted to hospital non-life threatening injuries.

A man has been arrested after a stabbing at Redfern tonight.

Just after 11pm (Friday 9 June 2017, a 49-year-old man was stabbed in the abdomen at a unit in Elizabeth Street, Redfern.

Officers from Redfern Local Area Command attended and arrested a 62-year-old man.

Search for missing man Anthony Leonard

Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate Anthony Leonard.

The 66-year-old was last seen at his aged care facility on Dowling Street in Wendouree just before 7pm.

Police and family have concerns for his welfare due to his medical condition.

Anthony is described as 177cm tall, solid build, dark hair and wears glasses.

He was last seen wearing a dark blue jumper and dark coloured pants.

Search for missing man Noel O’Brien

Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate Noel O’Brien.

The 45-year-old last made contact with someone via text message at 4pm.

Police and family have concerns for his welfare.

Noel is described as 172cm tall, medium build, short shaved hair which is brown/grey, unshaven appearance, wears reading glasses and was last seen wearing dark tracksuit top and pants.

Police have released an image of Noel in the hope someone recognises him.

Man charged following Brighton fatal shooting and siege

Victoria Police and their partners within the Joint Counter Terrorism Team have charged a man following the execution of a number of search warrants in the northern suburbs this morning.

These warrants relate to the ongoing investigation into an incident in Brighton on Monday.

An Ascot Vale man has been charged with numerous offences including prohibited person in possession of firearm and committing an indictable offence while on bail.

The 30-year-old faced an out of sessions hearing tonight and has been remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

Search for missing teenager Ryan Galik

Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate Ryan Galik.

The 14-year-old was last seen on Strabane Way in Hampton Park about 3pm.

Police and family have concerns for his welfare due to his age.

Ryan is described as 170cm tall, thin build, blue eyes, shoulder length light brown hair and has a nose piercing.

He was last seen wearing black jeans, black and white runners and a black and white tie dye long sleeve top.

Digital face image released following suspicious activity in Mentone

Police have released a facial composite of a man who they believe may be able to assist with their investigation into a number of reports of suspicious activity in the Mentone area this month.

Investigators have been told a girl was walking along Bourke Street on her way to school on 1 June when a man in a red sedan pulled up beside her about 8.35am.

The man, who was wearing a grey hooded jumper, wound down the window and told the girl he was a friend of her mother’s and to get into the car.

The girl did not recognise the man and instead ran across the road to a park.

The man performed a U-turn but did not get out of the car.

Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate a man reported missing in Kirrawee, south of Sydney.

Leigh Butkovic, aged 28, was last seen about 7.30am yesterday (Thursday 8 June 2017), at a home on President Ave, Kirrawee.

Police and family hold concerns for the welfare of Mr Butkovic.

Paige Perkins wanted on warrants

Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate Paige Perkins.

The 22-year-old is wanted for failing to appear at court for a number of traffic-related offences.

Paige is described as about 155cm tall with a thin build and fair shoulder-length hair.

She has a number of tattoos on her upper leg and ribs/torso area.

Perkins is known to frequent the Echuca, Moama, Kyabram, Rochester and Tongala areas.

Man charged re Ridgewood incident

Joondalup Detectives have charged a 54 year old man in relation to an incident in Ridgewood yesterday (Wednesday 7 June 2017), involving a 12 year old girl.

The man was arrested today as a result of proactive targeted patrols of the Ridgewood area by police and information received from members of the public.

It is alleged around 8:45am the man approached the girl as she was walking along a footpath on Hinchinbrook Avenue near Ballymote Park and grabbed her by the wrist. She managed to break free of his grip after a brief struggle and run from the area.

The man of no fixed address has been charged with one count each of Deprivation of Liberty and Assault.

Man charged with threats to kill

Wyndham North police have charged a 67-year-old Altona Meadows man with making a threat to kill.

The charge relates to an alleged incident that occurred on 6 June where a call was made to an Imam with a threat to kill.

The man will appear at the Werribee Magistrates’ Court on 30 October 2017.

Victoria Police takes all crimes seriously, including that which is motivated by prejudice, racism or discrimination.

People who experience or witness these crimes should report them to police at a local police station.

CCTV images released following hit and run – North Richmond

Police have released CCTV images following a hit and run in Sydney’s north west.

Just after 6.30am today (Friday 9 June 2017), police attended a service station on the corner of Terrace Road and Bells Line of Road, North Richmond, following reports a man had been hit by a car.

Police have been told a white dual cab utility drove through the service station, striking a 55-year-old man, and failing to stop.

The man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene, before being taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.

Update regarding JCTT warrant activity in Melbourne

Australian Federal Police on Friday, 09/06/2017 14:26 AEST

This is a joint media release between the Australian Federal Police and the Victorian Police Force.

The Victorian Joint Counter Terrorism Team comprising officers from the Australian Federal Police, Victoria Police and ASIO has executed five search warrants at a number of locations across Melbourne today.

This activity was not in response to any identified threat however it was associated with the incident at Brighton on Monday (5 June 2017), specifically the supply of firearms.

Earlier this morning warrants were executed at residences at Gladstone Park, Ascot Vale and Glenroy. A number of items have been taken for further examination including an imitation firearm, computers, mobile phones and other material.

A further two search warrants were executed in West Meadows and Reservoir this afternoon.

Police appeal for witnesses to serious pedestrian crash – Belmore

Police are appealing for witnesses to a crash that’s left a pedestrian in a critical condition.

About 10.10am on Friday 2 June 2017, emergency services were called to Burwood Road, Belmore, after reports a man was hit by a car.

Police were told the 74-year-old man was crossing the road when he was hit by a white Renault Master panel van.

The man sustained serious injuries and was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

The driver, a58-year-old man, was taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

Serious crash – Richmond

Just after 5.15pm (Thursday 8 June 2017), emergency services were called to Blacktown Road, following reports of a crash.

Police have been told a Holden Calais sedan and a Holden Rodeo utility had collided head on.

The driver of the Calais, an 18-year-old man, was trapped for a short time. He was extricated and taken to Westmead Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Rodeo, a 43-year-old woman, was also treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance and taken to Westmead Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit attended and will investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, including whether the driver may have suffered a medical episode.

Crash investigators call for witnesses following fail-to-stop fatal – Orange

Officers from the Central West Crash Investigation Unit are continuing their inquiries into a fail-to-stop fatality in Orange last month.

About 10.20pm (Sunday 28 May 2017), emergency services were called to Summer Street, near the intersection of Hill Street, after the body of a woman was located on the road by a passing motorist.

Officers attended and found the body of a 36-year-old woman.

A crime scene was established and investigations commenced.

Initial inquiries suggest the woman walked from a nearby motel, before she was struck by a vehicle.

Emergency services remind community to have a plan and stay safe as 2017 snow season starts

EDITORS NOTE: Vision regarding the ‘Snowsafe’ operation will be distributed to media outlets state-wide via Hightail link this afternoon.

Emergency services are urging the community to have a plan and stay ‘Snowsafe’ as this year’s ski season kicks off.

The official snow season begins this weekend and will run until October, during which millions of snow season enthusiasts are expected to make their way to the state’s alpine region.

Southern Region Commander, Acting Assistant Commissioner Rod Smith, said the official launch of ‘Snowsafe’ sees additional police being deployed in the area to provide a high visibility operation involving highly-trained Alpine Operators, General Duties police, Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, Licensing Police and other specialist commands throughout the season.

Police seek man on outstanding warrant – Coffs Harbour

Police are appealing for information to help locate a man wanted for an outstanding revocation of parole warrant.

Douglas Gomes, aged 29, is wanted by officers from the Coffs Clarence Local Area Command for breaching an apprehended violence order.

He is described as Aboriginal in appearance with a thin build and black hair and brown eyes.

Mr Gomes is considered dangerous and should not be approached.

Police investigate fatal crash – Deniliquin

New South Wales Police on Friday, 09/06/2017 11:44 AEST

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a double fatal motor vehicle collision in the Deniliquin Local Area Command yesterday.

About 12.55pm on Thursday 8 June 2017, emergency services were called to the Cobb Highway, about five kilometres north of Wanganella, following reports of a crash.

It is believed that a northbound B-double, driven by a 27-year-old man, and a northbound Mitsubishi Triton, towing a caravan, collided.

Following that impact, the 66-year-old male driver of the Mitsubishi and his female passenger were killed.

Police from Deniliquin Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene at the location.

Police seek public assistance concerning suspicious man – Albury

New South Wales Police on Friday, 09/06/2017 11:14 AEST

Police are appealing for information following two reported incidents of a suspicious man loitering near public parks in Albury earlier this week.

The first incident occurred about 7.30pm on Wednesday 7 June 2017, when a 14-year-old girl was walking past J.C. King Park on David Street.

She noticed a man standing at the gate to the park performing a lewd act.

The young girl ran home and reported the incident to her mother who contacted police.

The second incident occurred at the Oddies Creek Playground about 5.30pm yesterday (Thursday 8 June 2017), when a 25-year-old woman was approached by a man performing a lewd act as she got into her vehicle.
