Woman charged after deceptively obtaining more than $60,000 – Lismore

Police have charged a woman after allegedly fraudulently obtaining and spending finances of more than $60,000 over 12 months.

In March 2015, a 54-year-old woman was provided access to a debit card to assist with paying ongoing medical bills for her terminally ill brother.

After checking over bank statements and identifying a number of discrepancies, the man and his daughter will allege the 54-year-old woman had withdrawn large amounts of cash from his account to the value of $68,529.

Officers attached to Richmond Local Area Command were contacted and commenced an investigation.

On Monday 11 April 2016, police arrested the 54-year-old woman. She was taken to Lismore police station where she was charged with dishonestly obtain a financial advantage by deception.

Second teen dies following crash near Mudgee

New South Wales Police on Sunday, 12/06/2016 16:14 AEST

A second teenager has died following a crash at Munghorn, near Mudgee.

Emergency services were called to Wollar Road just before midnight on Friday (10 June 2016), after a Ford Festiva struck a wombat before hitting an embankment and flipping.

The 14-year-old male passenger died at the scene.

The driver, a 16-year-old male, suffered serious head injuries after being ejected from the vehicle.

He was airlifted to Westmead Hospital where he died about 11am today (Sunday 12 June 2016).

Serious Crash in Perth CBD

Western Australia Police on Sunday, 12/06/2016 14:59 AEST

Traffic Enforcement Group 3 officers are investigating a crash in the Perth CBD on Friday 10 June 2016, involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

Just after 9pm, a white Toyota Prado was stopped at a red light at the intersection of St. George’s Terrace and Barrack Street. A male pedestrian was crossing St. George’s Terrace whilst the traffic was stationary.

The lights turned green and the Toyota Prado which was the second vehicle at the lights, drove forward. It is unclear if the pedestrian was holding or leaning on the car, or if he was caught on the body of the car, before being dragged into the intersection and falling to the ground.

The 26 year old Yanchep man received serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Royal Perth Hospital.

The Toyota Prado continued on and it is not known if the driver realised what had occurred.

Body found – Whale Beach

New South Wales Police on Sunday, 12/06/2016 14:14 AEST

A report is being prepared for the Coroner after a body was located on Sydney’s Northern Beaches today.

Just before 11am (Sunday 12 June 2016), the body of a man was located on rocks in Dolphin Bay at Whale Beach.

Emergency services were dispatched to the area and the body was recovered.

Police from Northern Beaches Local Area Command established a crime scene and are conducting inquiries into the man’s death.

Initial investigations suggest the death is not suspicious.

Ravenswood Serious Assault

Western Australia Police on Sunday, 12/06/2016 13:39 AEST

Mandurah Detectives are seeking information to assist with their investigation into a serious assault in Ravenswood on Saturday, 11 June 2016.

Around 2am, an altercation took place at a unit in a hotel complex located on Lloyd Ave involving approximately seven people.

During the altercation three men aged 42, 37 and 36 years of age received serious injuries.

The men were taken to the Peel Health Campus before two of the men were transferred to Royal Perth Hospital and Fiona Stanley Hospital for further medical treatment.

A large number of people were in the area at the time of the altercation and detectives would like to speak to anyone who saw the incident, or any persons or vehicles leaving the area.

Drivers urged to slow down – Operation Stay Alert: Day 2

New South Wales Police on Sunday, 12/06/2016 12:29 AEST

NSW Police Traffic and Highway Patrol officers are urging motorists to slow down when travelling this long weekend.

Police are concerned at the significant amount of speeding offences overnight with more than 1500 speeding infringements issued across the State during Operation Stay Alert so far.

Just before 12.30am today (Sunday 12 June 2016), emergency services were called to Eglinton Road, Bathurst, following reports a vehicle had rolled.

The male driver, a 21-year-old with a provisional licence, was treated by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to Bathurst Hospital.

A male passenger in the vehicle was also treated by paramedics before being taken Orange Hospital with significant head injuries.

Stolen Property Located in Cardup

Western Australia Police on Sunday, 12/06/2016 10:19 AEST

Mundijong police have recovered a large quantity of stolen property following the discovery of a man trespassing in Cardup on Thursday 9 June 2016.

Serpentine-Jarrahdale Shire Rangers alerted police to the man who had illegally set up camp on a vacant property on Hopkinson Road.

Police attended and located a large quantity of stolen property which was linked to numerous burglary and stealing offences across the wider Mundijong district.

Police nab drivers as part of Operation Regal

Victoria Police on Sunday, 12/06/2016 10:14 AEST

A 34-year-old woman was allegedly caught more than four times over the limit in Quandong yesterday afternoon.

Moorabool Highway Patrol members intercepted the woman driving an unregistered car on Ballan Road about 3.10pm.

The woman returned a positive alcohol reading and was taken to a police station for an evidentiary breath test.

The Wyndham Vale woman returned a result of 0.264 per cent.

Her vehicle was impounded and she is also expected to be charged on summons with traffic offences.

Two charged after taxi driver assaulted – Caringbah

New South Wales Police on Sunday, 12/06/2016 09:29 AEST

Two people have been charged after an assault upon a taxi driver at Woolooware overnight.

About 11.40pm on Saturday 11 June 2016 police from Miranda Local Area Command were advised about two people assaulting a taxi driver outside a convenience store on The Kingsway.

The officers were told the 46-year-old male driver was allegedly assaulted inside his taxi and then knocked to the ground where the assault continued by a 21-year-old man and 20-year-old woman.

Two youths, aged 18 and 19, who were in the store came to the taxi drivers aid and were also assaulted. Police will allege one of male teenagers was kicked in the head while the other was scratched and punched by the couple.

All were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before the driver was taken to St George Hospital with serious head injuries.

Beechboro Attempted Armed Robbery

Western Australia Police on Sunday, 12/06/2016 09:07 AEST

A 21 year old Beechboro man will appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today (12 June 2016) after an overnight incident.

Around 6:40pm on Saturday 11 June 2016, Midland and Kiara police were called to reports of a man running down Amazon Drive near Altone Road in Beechboro, attempting to stop cars wearing a balaclava.

It will be alleged the man drove into the drive thru area of a fast food outlet in Beechboro and pointed a replica handgun at a staff member, demanding cash.

The man did not get any cash and ran off down Amazon Drive.

Kiara Police located the man hiding in the front yard of a home on Amazon Drive.

Attempted Stealing of an ATM in Neerabup

Western Australia Police on Sunday, 12/06/2016 08:32 AEST

Joondalup Detectives are seeking information regarding the attempted stealing of an ATM in Neerabup on Sunday 22 May 2016.

Between 1:45am and 2:15am a dark coloured utility with two male occupants was driven through the front windows of the store area of a service station located on Wanneroo Road in Nerrabup.

It is believed the offenders attempted to steal the ATM by looping a strap over the machine and attempting to pull it out with the vehicle. They were unsuccessful and fled the area.

The vehicle is described as a dark coloured dual cab four wheel drive, with silver high polished rims, silver check steel side steps, light coloured snatch strap ties across rear roll bar, silver high polished rear roll bar and steel bar secured into rear tail gate which was used to smash the windows of the store.

Detectives would like to speak to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident who may have seen the vehicle or its occupants.

Arrest after Stolen Motorcycle Failed to Stop

Western Australia Police on Sunday, 12/06/2016 07:33 AEST

Around 11:20pm last night (11 June 20160), Traffic Enforcement Group 3 officers observed a black coloured MV Agusta motorcycle travelling on Wanneroo Road near Reid Highway in Balcatta with no lights on.

Officers activated their emergency lights and sirens and it will be alleged the rider of the motorcycle did not stop and continued on to Reid Highway.

Police in the air kept track of the motorcycle until it was abandoned on Reid Highway Balga and the rider fled on foot. The rider was apprehended by police short time later.

Further inquiries by police established the motorcycle had been stolen on the 19 May from a home in Scarborough.

Two arrested after taxi driver assaulted – Caringbah

New South Wales Police on Sunday, 12/06/2016 04:14 AEST

Two people are in police custody after a taxi driver was allegedly assaulted at Caringbah overnight.

The incident happened about 11.45pm (Saturday 11 June 2016), outside a convenience store on The Kingsway at Caringbah when the driver was allegedly by two passengers.

Police from Miranda Local Area Command have been told the driver was allegedly knocked to the ground and continued to be assaulted.

Two youths, aged 18 and 19, who were in the store came to the man’s aid and were assaulted. Police allege one teen was kicked in the head, the other scratched and punched.

All were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before the driver was taken to St George Hospital with head injuries.

Fire damages home – West Pennant Hills

New South Wales Police on Sunday, 12/06/2016 04:00 AEST

An investigation is underway into the cause of a fire which has caused extensive damage to a home at West Pennant Hills this morning.

Emergency services were called to the single-level home on Hannah Bellamy Place, West Pennant Hills, shortly after 1am (Sunday 12 June 2016).

Officers arrived to find a home well alight.

Four people escaped the building, with all checked by NSW Ambulance Paramedics in case of smoke inhalation.

Three people were evacuated from adjoining properties as a precaution.

Two men injured, third in custody after suspected domestic-violence assault – Hoxton Park

New South Wales Police on Sunday, 12/06/2016 04:00 AEST

Two people have been injured and one man is in custody following what police believe was a domestic-violence-related incident at Hoxton Park overnight.

Police from Green Valley Local Area Command were patrolling Cowpasture Road about 1am (Sunday 12 June 2016), when they’ve seen up to 20 people fighting near the intersection of Hoxton Park Road.

Officers called for assistance and moved to break up the fight.

They’ve found a 22-year-old man from Rossmore with a fractured ankle after allegedly being hit by a car; a second man, aged 25 and from Austral, has been treated for a head injury, allegedly sustained when hit with a weapon.

Both men have been taken to hospital for further treatment.

Man remanded following Cranbourne death

Victoria Police on Saturday, 11/06/2016 23:36 AEST

Homicide Squad detectives have charged a 32-year-old man following the death of a man in Cranbourne last night.

Emergency services were called to a residential address on Camms Road about 9.10pm after receiving reports a man had been stabbed.

The 38-year-old Cranbourne man died at the scene.

The 32-year-old Cranbourne man has been charged with one count of murder and faced an out of session’s court hearing at the Dandenong Police Station this evening.

He has been remanded to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
