Police search for missing man Alfredo Caligiuri

Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate missing Lalor man Alfredo Caligiuri.
The 89-year-old was last seen at his home on Station Street about 11am this morning.
Police and Alfredo’s family hold concerns for his welfare.
Investigators have released an image of Alfredo in the hope that someone may have information on his current whereabouts.
Alfredo has white hair with a black spot on the back.

Police appeal for information following suspicious death of woman – Snapper Point

Police are appealing for information following the suspicious death of woman on the state’s Central Coast earlier today.
About 10.30am this morning, (Sunday 24 April 2016), emergency services were called to Snapper Point in the Munmorah State Conservation area, following the discovery of a body face down inside the blow hole.
Detectives from State Crime Commands Homicide squad, with the assistance of officers from Tuggerah Lakes Local Area Command, have commenced an investigation into the women’s death.
Police are appealing for information from the public as they continue their investigations. In particular, police would like to hear from anyone who has visited the National Park in recent days.
The woman, who is yet to be identified, is described as being of Asian appearance and believed to be aged between 20 and 35 and approximately 170cm tall.

Assault charges, Mornington Island

Police have charged a boy following an incident on Mornington Island.
It will be alleged around 2.15am, a man and a girl were struck with an oar and a woman was punched in the face following an altercation at a residence.
A 38-year-old man was been airlifted to Townsville Hospital with serious facial injuries.
The two others did not seek medical treatment.
Those involved are known to each other.
A 15-year-old boy has been charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm, assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed and grievous bodily harm.
He will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act 1992
Witnesses sought to assault in Weston
ACT Police on Sunday, 24/04/2016 16:03 AEST
ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an assault that occurred near an underpass on Namatjira Drive in Weston last night (Saturday, 23 April).
Around 9.00pm three males and a female were walking near the underpass adjacent to McDonalds restaurant when they were approached from behind by two males. The two offenders assaulted the two males causing serious facial injuries to both victims.
The first offender is described as male, in his late teens or early twenties and a dark complexion.
The second offender is described as male, in his late teens or early twenties, fair complexion, tall and a slim build.
Police believe the suspects were attending the ACT Jam 2016 BMX riding event held at Weston Creek Skate Park.

Fatal crash – Canowindra
New South Wales Police on Sunday, 24/04/2016 16:01 AEST
A man has died following a single-vehicle crash near Canowindra today.
The crash happened when a Nissan Pulsar hit an embankment about 11.30am (Sunday 24 April 2016) on the Cowra Road, 10 km south of Canowindra.
Officers attached to Canobolas Local Area Command attended and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Nissan driver, a 78-year-old man, was injured. He was treated at the scene before being airlifted to Orange Base Hospital, where he has since died.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Attempted sexual assault, Windsor

Police are appealing for public assistance following the suspected attempted sexual assault of a woman in Lutwyche this morning.
Around 5.30am, a woman was walking alone on a footpath near the Northern Busway Federation Street stop, when a man approached her from behind.
The man placed his hand over the woman’s mouth, grabbed her around the waist and pulled her into a nearby garden.
The woman managed to break free from his grasp after biting him on the chest.
She made her way to a safe place and contacted police for assistance.
The man is described as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander in appearance, of a proportionate build, around 167cm tall and with dark hair and stubble.
He was wearing light brown pants, a light-coloured shirt, dark-coloured shoes with a white trim and a dark-coloured hat.
Police would like to speak with anybody who was driving along Lutwyche Road between Windsor and Lutwyche around 5.30am or may have seen a man matching this description in the area.
Investigations are continuing.
Motorcyclist dies in Kinglake collision

Police are currently at the scene of a fatal collision in Kinglake between a car and two motorcycles.
The collision occurred on Heidelberg – Kinglake Road about 1.30pm.
It is believed a motorcyclist has lost control on a bend and was struck by a car travelling in the opposite direction.
The male rider, who is yet to be identified, has died at the scene.
The motorbike has then hit a second motorbike causing the male rider to fall and he has been taken to hospital with serious but non- life threatening injuries.

Five men arrested by Taskforce Tense

Detectives from Taskforce Tense have arrested five men as part of an ongoing investigation into a series of aggravated burglaries and car thefts in Melbourne’s south eastern suburbs this weekend.
The men were arrested following two aggravated burglaries committed on residential addresses in Ormond and Brighton East were assaulted in the early hours of
Saturday morning.
Occupants at both addresses sustained bruising and abrasions when allegedly assaulted by the men.
Investigators executed warrants at addresses night in Cranbourne and Hampton Park later that night and allegedly found a stolen BWW, a Honda CRV, mobile phones and a computer.

Police investigate after man stabbed – Boggabilla

Police are investigating after a man was stabbed at a home in the state’s north on Friday.
About 9.30pm (Friday 22 April 2016), police were called to a home in Yeoman Street, Boggabilla, where they located a 29-year-old man with stab wounds to his neck and back.
The man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics who conveyed him to Goondiwindi Hospital. He remains in a stable condition.
Officers attached to Barwon Local Area Command went to a home in Simpson Street and established a crime scene. Two men were arrested and taken to Boggabilla Police Station.
Detectives from Barwon Local Area Command are continuing to make inquiries into the stabbing. Charges have yet been laid.

Missing 15-year-old boy, Toowoomba

Police are appealing for assistance to help locate a 15-year-old boy reported missing from Toowoomba.
The boy (pictured) was last seen around 4pm yesterday at a fast food restaurant near Margaret Street. Police have concerns for his welfare as he has not made contact with friends or family since.
He is described as Caucasian, approximately 165cm tall with a proportionate build and short brown hair and was last seen wearing the clothing as depicted in the photograph.
Update: Unlawful wounding, Slade Point

A man has been charged following an alleged stabbing in Slade Point early this morning.
It will be alleged that just after 2am, two men were involved in a physical altercation in Slade Point Road in which one of the pair sustained stab wounds to his lower chest and abdomen.
Moments earlier, a 53-year-old man had allegedly repeatedly rammed a car he was driving into the passenger door of a 58-year-old man’s car.
The 58-year-old was transported to Mackay Base Hospital for treatment where he has undergone surgery and remains in a serious but stable condition.
A 53-year-old Slade Point man has been charged with grievous bodily harm and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
He is due to appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court tomorrow.
Body retrieved from water – Snapper Point

Police are appealing for information following the discovery of a woman’s body in the water on the state’s Central Coast today.
About 10.30am this morning, (Sunday 24 April 2016), emergency services were called to Snapper Point following the discovery of a body face down inside the blow hole.
On arrival, officers with the assistance from Westpac Rescue Helicopter recovered the body of the woman.
Police attached to Tuggerah Lakes Local Area Command have established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.
The woman has not been identified.

Police urge drivers to drive safely – Operation Go Slow

NSW Police Traffic and Highway Patrol officers are urging motorists to take care and drive safely with heavy traffic expected on NSW roads over the next 24 hours, with the end of school holidays and the ANZAC Day long weekend.
Six people have now lost their lives on NSW roads this long weekend, with the death of a man at East Gosford this morning.
A 47-year-old man died at the scene when his Falcon sedan hit a concrete barrier on York Street, East Gosford, about 4.35am today (Sunday 24 April 2016).
His death comes after five people we killed on NSW roads yesterday, three in one crash.
Motorists are being urged to take the lead in helping reduce the number of deaths on our roadways.

No wiggle room for P-plate drivers

Three P-platers were caught drink driving as part of a two-night traffic operation in Stonnington this weekend.
Prahran Highway Patrol ran Operation Wiggles on both Friday and Saturday night in the streets surrounding Stonnington’s entertainment precincts.
Sixteen drink drivers were caught, a rate of one in 71 drivers tested.
Among those caught included a probationary driver caught driving while suspended.
The 29-year-old Endeavour Hills man blew .049 per cent, resulting in his vehicle being impounded.

Police search for bike rider on Hume Freeway

Police are conducting a search of the Hume Freeway after finding a damaged motorcycle and a collision scene stretching 100 metres along the roadway near Longwood.
Police were alerted to the incident by a passerby who came across the scene, on the freeway near the intersection of Longwood-Ruffy Road, just after 6am.
An extensively damaged red and white Honda CRB 900 motorcycle was found lying on the road, with skid marks and debris, including money and one shoe, stretching along the bitumen for about 100 metres.
Investigators believe the motorcyclist struck a wombat causing him to lose control of the bike.
SES volunteers and police are conducting a search of the surrounding area to ascertain if the rider managed to walk away from the scene.

Minor injuries after fight – Mascot

Two people have been taken to hospital as a precaution after they were assaulted outside a fast food restaurant at Mascot this morning.
Police from Botany Bay Local Area Command have been told an argument between two groups, outside the business in Ross Smith Avenue, escalated into a physical fight shortly before 2am (Sunday 24 April 2016).
A 19-year-old woman, from Prestons, and a 27-year-old man, from Glenmore Park, were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics for minor injuries, before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. They were expected to be released this morning.
Inquiries into the identity of those involved are ongoing.

Unlawful wounding, Slade Point

Police are investigating an unlawful wounding which occurred in Slade Point early this morning.
Initial information suggests just after 2am police were called to a residence on Slade Point Road following reports that a man had been stabbed.
A 58-year-old man sustained serious injuries to his shoulder and abdomen and was transported to the Mackay Base Hospital for treatment.
A 53-year-old man is currently assisting police with their investigations.
Police have established a crime scene as investigations into the incident continue.
Car used in hotel break at Maylands

Police are investigating a break-in at a hotel in Maylands where a car was used to gain access to the building.
At 5.05am on Sunday 24 April, police were called to Phillis Street after reports two glass doors of a hotel had been rammed by a car. CCTV shows that at 4.40am, the suspects stole a cigarette machine and drove out of the building with it on the roof of a white 2 door sedan, possibly a Subaru Impreza.
One suspect is described as 185cm tall with a solid build wearing an Everlast hooded top and canvas type work pants. The second is shorter with a smaller build wearing a light coloured jacket.

Fatal traffic crash, Kurwongbah

Police are investigating a fatal traffic crash on Narangba Road near Lakeside Road, Kurwongbah.
Initial investigations suggest that just after 5am a single vehicle left the road and caught alight.
A body was located deceased inside the car.
Traffic diversions are in place and motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible.
Police are also appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact Crime Stoppers or their local police.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
Two in hospital, 18 drug charges at Homebush dance party

Two people were taken to hospital and 18 charges were laid for drug offences during a police operation at a dance party at Homebush overnight.
A Police Drug Dog operation was conducted at the event, which ran between 8.30pm (Saturday 23 April 2016), and 6am today (Sunday 24 April 2016), with more than 9500 people attending.
A 19-year-old man was taken to Concord Hospital about 12.10am by NSW Ambulance Paramedics being found allegedly drug affected; he was released this morning.
A woman was also taken to Concord Hospital about 2.30am for a suspected drug overdose. Her condition is unknown.

Witness appeal for erratic driver

Greensborough Highway Patrol is appealing for witnesses after a Dodge Nitro was reportedly driving in an erratic manner just prior to a collision in Bundoora on Friday.
Police have been told the Dodge was involved in a crash on Plenty Road, as it approached the traffic lights of the Metropolitan Ring Road off ramp; it collided with a car pushing it into another car, about 9.40pm.
The 48-year-old Thomastown driver failed to assist at the scene and left the crash in the 2007 blue Dodge Nitro with the front bumper hanging off.
Police caught up with the driver on Childs Road in Mill Park where he refused a breath test.
It is expected he will be charged on summons with refuse breath test, fail to remain at an accident scene, manner dangerous, careless driving and other traffic related offences.

30 evacuated after fire in unit car park – Ramsgate

Thirty people have been evacuated from their home units due to fire at Ramsgate this morning.
Emergency services were called to the 13-unit block in Dillon Street about 4.15am (Sunday 24 April 2016), after a fire began in the basement car park.
All 30 residents were evacuated while Fire & Rescue NSW fire fighters fought the blaze; one car has been destroyed, another damaged; six cars escaped damage.
The fire – which has caused significant damage to the building’s water and sewerage systems – is being treated as suspicious.
Police from St George Local Area Command have established a crime scene, which will be examined for forensic experts and fire investigators once it’s safe to enter.

Police investigate crash – Ermington
New South Wales Police on Sunday, 24/04/2016 04:15 AEST
Police are investigating after a car crashed into a traffic light and another car in Ermington.
About 11.30pm (Saturday 23 April 2016), a Renault Clio sedan being driven by a 35-year-old woman was travelling west on Victoria Road, when at the intersection with Spurway Street it left the road.
The car collided with a traffic light and a traffic control box before travelling through a grassed area and colliding with the rear of a Ford Falcon which was parked in a shopping centre car park.
There were no occupants of the Falcon.
The driver of the Clio was taken to Westmead Hospital for minor injuries. A blood sample was obtained from the woman at hospital.

Serious assault police charges following traffic incident, Carrara

A man has been charged following an incident that occurred yesterday afternoon in Carrara.
Around 4.30pm, two CIB officers were at an apartment complex on Murev Way when they approached a vehicle that was allegedly stolen as a man and a women were getting into the car.
A female officer has identified herself as a police officer and attempted to remove the keys from the ignition of the car while her male colleague has positioned a police car to block the car from leaving the address.
It will be alleged that the male in the car has driven the car into the officer, pinning her against the police car and hitting another vehicle that was parked nearby before he and the woman then fled the scene in the car.
They were located a short time later by a dog squad officer, and during the arrest the man was bitten by the police dog and treated for minor injuries at the scene.
The woman is still outstanding.
The officer suffered minor cuts and bruising as a result.
A 31-year-old man has been charged with two counts of serious assault police and one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, driving without a license, willful damage and damaging police property.
He is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on April 25.
Police concern for missing man Ilija Josevski

Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate missing man Ilija Josevski.
Ilija was last seen at the Newport railway station where it is believed he was planning to travel to Flinders Street and onto the Queen Victoria Market by tram about 10am yesterday.
Police and Ilija’s family are concerned for his welfare as he suffers from a medical condition.
It is believed Ilija was carrying a case and has a Myki card with him; he does not have a phone.
An image of Ilija has been released in the hope someone may recognise him and provide information on his whereabouts.

Public place shooting – Fairfield West

Police are investigating a shooting which occurred in Fairfield West yesterday afternoon.
About 3pm (Saturday 23 April 2016), a single shot was fired into a white Subaru Forrester which was parked on Cambewarra Road. There was no one in the vehicle at the time.
The owner of the vehicle was in a nearby house at the time, and after the incident drove to Fairfield Police Station to report it.
The Forrester was seized and will be subject to forensic examination.
Detectives from Fairfield Local Area Command are making inquiries into the incident and are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Police investigate suspicious fire – Canley Vale

Police are investigating a suspicious fire at a house in Sydney’s south-west.
About 7.30pm (Saturday 23 April 2016), a 90-year-old man and his 80-year-old wife were in their home on Cancery Street, Canley Vale, when they were awoken by their smoke alarm.
Emergency services attended and fire fighters extinguished a fire at the front door of the home.
The man and his wife were treated by Ambulance Paramedics for shock and smoke inhalation. They did not require hospitalisation.
Officers from Cabramatta Local Area Command established a crime scene at the address which has been examined by forensic specialists.

Police search for Marie Marius

Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate a missing Queensland woman, Marie Marius, who is holidaying in Victoria.
Marie, 43, was last seen at the Melton railway station yesterday morning at 10.30am.
She was intending to travel to Footscray for a hairdressing appointment.
Marie is perceived to be of Mauritian appearance, slim build, brown eyes with long dreadlock hair.
Police have released an image of Marie in the hope that someone may have information on her current whereabouts.

Police investigate stabbing – Bega

Police are investigating the alleged stabbing of a woman in the state’s south today.
Shortly after 1pm today (Saturday 23 April 2016), emergency services were called to a shopping centre on Upper Street, Bega, following reports a woman had been stabbed.
Police will allege a 42-year-old woman, who was in a wheelchair, and a 27-year-old woman got into an elevator where an argument began.
The 27-year-old woman allegedly returned to her vehicle to obtain a weapon and returned to a shop inside the centre.
Police have been told the younger woman confronted the 42-year-old woman and they began to argue again. It will be alleged the 27-year-old woman then produced the weapon and stabbed the older woman in the neck.

Missing woman located – Bathurst

A woman missing from Bathurst has been found safe and well.
The 77-year-old woman was last seen about 3pm at a home on Colville Street.
A short time ago the woman was located at a restaurant in Bathurst after a member of the community recognised her from social media.

Two charged with sexual assault of girl at Brookvale – Child Abuse Squad

Two men have been charged over the alleged sexual assault of a girl on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
The 12-year-old girl was approached by two men at Freshwater Beach about 3pm on Thursday (21 April 2016).
It will be alleged the men drove the girl to a location in Brookvale where they both sexually assaulted her.
Police were alerted and officers from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse Squad commenced an investigation.
Following inquiries, detectives arrested two men at Brookvale about 3pm yesterday (Friday 22 April 2016).

Man charged after allegedly making threats – Hornsby
New South Wales Police on Saturday, 23/04/2016 21:28 AEST
Police have charged a man after allegedly making threats against multiple police stations and courthouses from last month.
Officers will allege that between Wednesday 24 February 2016 and Tuesday 19 April 2016, an unknown male made threats against Hornsby and Mt Druitt Police Station and Hornsby and Mt Druitt Local Courts.
As a result, court proceedings were suspended each time and NSW Police Force specialist units were deployed.
Following investigations, officers attached to Hornsby Local Area Command arrested the man at an address in Rydalmere yesterday (Friday 22 April 2016).
He was taken to Parramatta Police Station where he was charged with five counts of use carriage service to threaten to kill.

Search for missing woman – Bathurst

Police are appealing for public assistance to locate a missing Bathurst woman.
Josephine Smith, aged 77, was last seen about 3pm (Saturday 23 April 2016) at a home on Colville Street.
Police were alerted when she could not be located or contacted.
