Shots fired at home – Ganmain

New South Wales Police on Friday, 29/04/2016 19:29 AEST

Police are appealing for public assistance after shots were fired at a house in Ganmain, 45km north-west of Wagga Wagga, today.

About 5am (Friday 29 April 2016), the residents of a home on Ford Street, Ganmain discovered two bullet holes in a wall and a fly screen of the property. It is believed the shots were fired overnight.

A man and woman, as well as their four children were at home at the time, but were uninjured.

Police from Wagga Wagga Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene, which was examined by forensic specialists.

Police are appealing for anyone with information on the incident to come forward.

Man charged following Bentleigh homicide

Victoria Police on Friday, 29/04/2016 18:02 AEST

Homicide Squad detectives have charged a man following the death of a woman in Bentleigh Tuesday morning.

The 74-year-old was located at a London Street address about 4pm.

A 44-year-old Bentleigh man has been charged with one count of murder and will shortly be appearing at an out of sessions court hearing.

Weapon and drug charges, Sunshine Coast

Queensland Police Service on Friday, 29/04/2016 17:40 AEST

Two men have been charged after police conducted a search at a Kidaman Creek address today.

Police attended the address early this morning and allegedly located a firearm, ammunition, dangerous drugs and drug paraphernalia at the residence.

A 59-year-old man, allegedly a patched member of the Black Uhlans Outlaw Motorcycle Gang, has been charged with unlawful possession of weapons Category H, possess weapon with altered identification marks, authority required to possess explosives (ammunition), possessing dangerous drugs and possess utensils or pipes etc that had been used. He appeared at the Maroochydore Magistrates Court today.

A second man attended the address whilst police were conducting the search. It will be alleged that a search of the second man’s vehicle resulted in the discovery of a quantity of Cannabis.

A 22-year-old Conondale man was issued with a notice to appear for possessing dangerous drugs and is expected to appear at the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on May 20.

Murder charge for elderly Hobart woman’s death

A 61-year-old man from New South Wales has been charged with murder in relation to the death of his mother in Hobart in March.

The arrest is the result of an investigation by Hobart CIB detectives into the death of an 88-year-old woman at her Sandy Bay home on 4 March 2016.

It will be alleged the elderly woman died after the administration of medication.

It will also be alleged that the man, formerly of Hobart, travelled to Hobart in the days before her death.

As part of the investigation, three Tasmania Police officers travelled to Woy Woy on the NSW Central Coast on Wednesday and conducted searches at several properties. NSW officers assisted in the searches.

Second woman charged over armed robbery at Air Force base – Robbery and Serious Crime Squad

New South Wales Police on Friday, 29/04/2016 15:14 AEST

A second serving member of the Australian Defence Force has been arrested by police investigating the armed robbery of a financial institution at the Richmond Air Force base in 2014.

Just after 3.30pm on Friday 7 February 2014, police responded to reports of an armed hold-up at a financial institution on Percival Street, Richmond.

It will be alleged a woman armed with a gun entered the building and threatened a female staff member before fleeing with cash.

The Robbery and Serious Crime Squad established Strike Force Potto to investigate the matter and has been working in partnership with the ADF Investigative Service.

A 21-year-old woman was arrested last Thursday (21 April 2016) and remains before the court.

Update: Man making threats in house, Berserker

Queensland Police Service on Friday, 29/04/2016 15:14 AEST

A man has been taken into custody and is assisting with their enquiries after he made threats toward police earlier today in Berserker.

The man allegedly threatened officers on Lucas Street earlier this morning and then retreated to a house and made further threats.

Police negotiated with the man for several hours and have taken him into custody in the last hour without incident.

Investigations are continuing.

Man making threats in house, Berserker

Queensland Police Service on Friday, 29/04/2016 14:44 AEST

Police are currently negotiating with a man who is inside a house that is on Lucas Street in Berserker.

Uniformed police were attending to an unrelated matter on Lucas Street around 10.30am when a man approached police and started verbally abusing and threatening to harm the officers.

The man then retreated into a house and made further threats against police.

Negotiators are currently communicating with the man and no one else is believed to be involved in the incident.

A cordon is currently in place in the area, and police have asked anyone with that cordon to please stay inside until further advised.

Investigations are continuing.

RFS member charged after allegedly starting bushfires – SCC Property Crime Squad

A probationary member of the Rural Fire Service has been charged after allegedly starting bushfires in the state’s Hunter Region.

Strike Force Billett was established by the Property Crime Squad’s Arson Unit to investigate more than 100 bushfires in the Cessnock area between August 2015 and April 2016.

As a result of their inquiries, a 20-year-old man was arrested at a fire at Lochinvar about 2pm yesterday (Thursday 28 April 2016).

Following a search of the man’s vehicle, investigators also located and seized accelerants and a number of mobile phones.

The man, who is a probationary member of the Rural Fire Service, was taken to Maitland Police Station and charged with five counts of cause fire and be reckless to its spread, and trespass.

Man charged over alleged assault – Turrella

New South Wales Police on Friday, 29/04/2016 14:14 AEST

A man has been charged over an alleged assault at Turrella, in Sydney’s south, overnight.

About 10.30pm (Thursday 28 April 2016), two men attended a home on Victoria Street where they confronted seven people, including a 15-year-old girl, who were sitting in the garage.

It’s alleged one of the men repeatedly verbally abused the group.

A male member of the group was then allegedly assaulted before his shirt was torn off and set on fire.

Police will further allege one of the intruders then allegedly exposed himself while continuing to make offensive comments.

Police investigation underway into man’s death – Earlwood

New South Wales Police on Friday, 29/04/2016 13:14 AEST

A Critical Incident Investigation has been launched following the death of a man in Earlwood.

About 7.55am yesterday (Thursday 28 April 2016), officers from Ashfield Local Area Command executed a search warrant at a home in Earlwood.

A male resident of the address was permitted to leave the scene. He was not under arrest at the time.

About 1.40pm, the male was located deceased in bushland nearby.

There are no suspicious circumstances.

Police investigate fatal shooting – Bankstown

New South Wales Police on Friday, 29/04/2016 12:44 AEST

Police have launched an investigation following a fatal shooting in Sydney’s south-west this morning.

About 11.50am (Friday 29 April 2016), officers from Bankstown Local Area Command were called to the car park of a shopping centre on Rickard Road, Bankstown, after reports of a shooting.

Police arrived to find two men and a woman injured at the location; one of the men died at the scene.

The two injured people were treated by NSW Ambulance Paramedics, before being taken to hospital. Their conditions are not yet known.

A crime scene has been established, which will be examined by detectives and forensic specialists.

Fire – Lakemba

New South Wales Police on Friday, 29/04/2016 11:29 AEST

About 8.50am (Friday 29 April 2016), officers attached to Campsie Local Area Command and Fire & Rescue NSW were called to a youth centre on Croydon Street, following reports of a fire.

The fire was extinguished a short time later; however the building was completely destroyed.

One man was treated for smoke inhalation and was taken to a hospital as a precaution. Police have received no further reports of injury.

A number of buildings were evacuated, also as a precaution.

Investigations into the incident will continue; the cause of the fire is not yet known.

Double shooting – Parkville

Victoria Police on Friday, 29/04/2016 11:12 AEST

Armed Crime Squad detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a double shooting in Parkville last night.

Police have been told two men were located in a vehicle on Macarthur Road, near Royal Parade, about 11.30pm.

Both men were taken to hospital in a serious condition with what appear to be gunshot injuries.

Police investigate fatal crash near Broken Hill

New South Wales Police on Friday, 29/04/2016 11:00 AEST

Police are investigating after a fatal crash in the state’s west yesterday.

About 12.45am (Thursday 28 April 2016), a Toyota Hilux was travelling south on the Silver City Highway, about 60km north of Broken Hill, when it left the road and rolled.

The driver, a 23-year-old man, was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene.

Officers from Barrier Local Area Command attended and commenced investigations.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Men charged after stealing $100,000 in livestock – Calleen (West Wyalong)

New South Wales Police on Friday, 29/04/2016 10:14 AEST

Police have charged two men after stealing $100,000 worth of livestock from a property in the state’s Central West last month.

On Thursday 31 March 2016, a 56-year-old man went to his property on Cattles Lane, Calleen, (approximately 30km from West Wyalong), and noticed a significant amount of sheep missing.

The man attended West Wyalong Police Station and notified police of the incident.

Officers attached to Griffith Local Area Command with the assistance of NSW Rural Crime Investigators commenced inquiries into the incident.

On Friday 1 April 2016, police executed a search warrant on a property located on Merrengreen Road, Calleen. Officers will alleged they located 609 merino lambs. More than 300 had their National Livestock Identification System (NLIS) ear tags removed.

Attempted armed robbery, Redcliffe

Queensland Police Service on Friday, 29/04/2016 10:02 AEST

Two men have been charged following investigations into an attempted armed robbery at Redcliffe overnight.

Around 12.40am it will be alleged two men attempted to enter a service station on the corner of Oxley Avenue and Anzac Avenue with their heads covered and each armed with a knife.

It will further be alleged the men were unable to gain access to the premises as an employee locked the doors.

Police attended the scene and tracked the men to a nearby residence where they were arrested.

A 17-year-old Clontarf man and a 17-year-old Redcliffe man have since been charged with attempted armed robbery and will appear in the Redcliffe Magistrates Court today.

Police seek witnesses to high range drink driving

Tasmania Police on Friday, 29/04/2016 09:48 AEST

Bridgewater Police are seeking witnesses following an incident where a 54 year old female driver was intercepted in the Bridgewater area and returned a roadside breath test of .362.

The woman was subsequently charged with offences under the Road Safety Alcohol and Drugs Act.

Police would like to hear from any witnesses regarding the driving of a white BMW sedan travelling between 12pm and 1.30pm on Tuesday 26th April.

Police are particularly interested to hear from witnesses who saw the vehicle across the Bridgewater causeway, where it reportedly was swerving between lanes and allegedly almost caused a traffic collision.

Investigation continues as woman located at Snapper Point identified – Homicide Squad

New South Wales Police on Friday, 29/04/2016 09:00 AEST

Police are appealing for information to piece together the final moments of a woman whose body was found on the state’s Central Coast at the weekend.

About 10.30am on Sunday (24 April 2016), emergency services were called to Snapper Point in the Munmorah State Conservation Area, following the discovery of a woman’s body in water inside the blow hole.

Strike Force Elise has been established by investigators from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad and Tuggerah Lakes Local Area Command to investigate the circumstances surrounding the woman’s suspected murder.

The woman has been formally identified as Mengmei Leng, a 25-year-old International student from China.

Ms Leng was reported missing to Campsie Police on Monday (25 April 2016), by a relative.

Sydney CBD Emergency Warning System to be tested today

Police are advising the public the regular monthly test of the Sydney CBD Emergency Warning System will be conducted today (Friday 29 April 2016) at 12.15pm.

Members of the public should not be concerned. This is a test only.

Those who reside, work or travel through the Sydney CBD need to be aware of the warning system, what it sounds like and what it is used for.

The system is in line with similar warning systems overseas where monthly tests are conducted to educate and remind the public of the existence of the warning system, and to ensure the system works.

Today’s test will be conducted at selected sites within the Sydney CBD.

Willetton Armed Robbery

Armadale detectives are seeking information regarding an armed robbery in Willetton on Thursday, 14 April 2016.

Around 1pm on Thursday 14 April 2016, a neighbour saw a suspicious man leave his neighbour’s home. The 67 year old neighbour decided to follow the man in his car, hoping to get his neighbour’s property back.

The victim located the man a short distance away on Malindi Street and pulled up next to him. The victim exited his vehicle and confronted the man. The offender threatened the victim with a screwdriver.

The victim retreated and the offender ran to the Toyota and got into the driver’s side. The victim opened the passenger side door and after a brief struggle, the offender drove off, causing the man to fall to the ground.

The man is described as being 25 to 30 years of age, fair skinned with a stocky build. He was wearing a black jacket and black shorts.

Armed robbery charges, Tamborine

Queensland Police Service on Friday, 29/04/2016 06:59 AEST

Police investigating the alleged armed robbery of a service station at Tamborine on Monday have charged two men.

A 24-year-old Beaudesert man and a 20-year-old Chuwar man were taken into custody in Beaudesert yesterday and charged with a number of offences in relation to the alleged Tamborine robbery and other matters.

The 24-year-old was charged with three counts of driving without a licence, two counts each of fraud, stealing and trespass and one count each of armed robbery, entering a premises to commit an indictable offence, receiving tainted property, possessing dangerous drugs, obstruct police and failure to appear in accordance to an undertaking.

The 20-year-old man was charged with two counts of fraud and one count each of armed robbery and stealing.

Both men are due to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court this today.

Quinns Rock Search Warrant

On Thursday 28 April 2016, Clarkson LPT3 executed a search warrant on a home in Gordon Ave, Quinns Rock.

It will be alleged during the search, police located and seized a quantity of Methylamphetamine, Cannabis, drug paraphernalia, a firearm and various parts of firearms including a barrel, handgun handle and rifle bolt and multiple rounds of ammunition.

A 43 year old Quinns Rock man has been charged with:-

Three counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia;

Two counts of Possession with intent to sell/supply Cannabis;

Arrest – Secret Harbour Search Warrant

Western Australia Police on Friday, 29/04/2016 06:21 AEST

As a result of a local action targeting illicit drug distribution within the Mandurah Sub-district, Mandurah Detectives, Mandurah Proactive Team South and Canine Operations executed a search warrant at a home in Kumarina Drive Secret Harbour on Thursday 28 April 2016.

It will be alleged during the search warrant, police located and seized approximately 170 grams of Methylamphetamine, $1700 in cash, 150 MDMA tablets, 1Kg of Cannabis and various drug paraphernalia.

A 30 year old Secret Harbour woman has been charged with:-

Possess Prohibited Drugs with Intent to Sell or Supply (Methyl Amphetamine);

Possess Prohibited Drugs with Intent to Sell or Supply (Cannabis);

Perth City – Stealing Arrest

Around 2:20pm on Thursday 28 April 2016, a man entered a jewellery store located in Carillon City, Perth.

It will be alleged the man tried on several watches including a Tag Heuer watch valued at over $6,000. The man left the store with the watch without paying for it.

Officers from the Bicycle Patrol Group were called to assist due to the heavy pedestrian traffic in the Hay Street Mall.

The 32 year old man, wearing the watch, was apprehended by officers a short time later.

The East Perth man has been charged with Stealing and Breach of Bail and is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court this morning, 29 April 2016.

Of the probationary constables who will attest today, 97 were born in Australia and 12 were born overseas. Their countries of origin include the United Kingdom, Wales, Belgium, Brazil, India, Lebanon, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan and South Korea.

Among those attesting today, six probationary constables identify as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island background.

Police investigate crash – Casula

New South Wales Police on Friday, 29/04/2016 05:00 AEST

About 9.15pm (Thursday 28 April 2016), emergency services were called to the intersection of Holston Street and the Hume Highway following reports of a crash.

Initial investigations suggest a black Lexus IS250, driven by a 51-year-old woman, crashed into a silver Mazda hatch, which in turn crashed into a black Lexus sedan, at the intersection.

The 51-year-old woman was treated at the scene by Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to Liverpool Hospital, where she remains in a critical condition.

The driver of the Mazda, a 35-year-old woman, was treated at the scene by Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to Liverpool Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the second Lexus, a 22-year-old man, received minor injuries.

Robbery charges, Brisbane City

Detectives have charged four people following the alleged robbery of a man in Brisbane City overnight.

Police will be allege at around 11.45pm a group of people became involved in an altercation with a man in Gallipoli Park on Roma Street.

It will be further alleged the group pushed the man to the ground and assaulted him before stealing property from the man and attempting to flee the scene on foot.

Officers attended the location and took four people into custody a short time later.

A 63-year-old man was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for treatment of bruising and minor lacerations to his face and head.

An 18-year-old woman from Annerley, 18-year-old woman from Redbank Plains, 17-year-old man from Goodna and a 14-year-old girl from Logan Central have all been charged with one count each of robbery in company.

An 18-year-old woman from Annerley and 17-year-old man from Goodna are due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today, April 29.

An 18-year-old woman from Redbank Plains is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on May 17.

The 14-year-old girl from Logan Central will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.

Police Transport Command three-day crackdown on rural public transport – Operation Southern Aurora

Officers from Police Transport Command and Wagga Wagga Local Area Command are conducting a three-day crackdown on crime and anti-social behaviour in the area.

Operation Southern Aurora – a rural transport operation focusing on crime and anti-social behaviour – started yesterday (Thursday 28 April 2016) and will run until Saturday 30 April 2016.

As part of the operation, extra police will be patrolling on local public transport and a drug detection dog will also be utilized at several locations throughout this three-day operation.

NSW Police Transport Command’s Superintendent Dave Roptell said police are targeting transport crime and anti-social behaviour, not only in the metropolitan areas but also on rural networks.

“Police will not tolerate crime, property damage, anti-social behaviour or drug and alcohol use on our public transport networks and will be issuing penalty notices to anyone caught doing the wrong thing.”

Armed robbery, Palm Beach

Queensland Police Service on Friday, 29/04/2016 03:31 AEST

Police are investigating after the armed robbery of a man in Palm Beach overnight.

Around 11pm a 19-year-old man was approached by two other men on 19th Avenue. The pair spoke to him briefly before one man produced a knife and demanded his mobile phone.

The man complied with their demands and the pair fled on foot.

The 19-year-old man was not physically injured during the incident.

Police attended the scene and conducted patrols but were not able to locate the two men.

One man is described as Caucasian in appearance, approximately 183cm tall, of a medium build and aged in his early 30s with brown hair in mullet style haircut. He was last seen wearing a yellow coloured hi-vis collared shirt.

The other man is described as Caucasian in appearance, approximately 183cm tall, of a medium build and aged in his early 30s with brown hair in a crew cut hairstyle. He was last seen carrying a white coloured bum bag.

Investigations are continuing.

Man dies following crash – Epping

New South Wales Police on Friday, 29/04/2016 01:44 AEST

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner following a fatal crash between a car and a bus in Epping yesterday afternoon.

About 4.10pm (Thursday 28 April 2016), emergency services were called to Beecroft Road, near the M2 Motorway, following reports of a crash.

Initial investigations suggest a silver Toyota Corolla travelling south and a State Transit bus travelling north on Beecroft Road, crashed head-on.

The driver and only occupant of the Toyota was treated at the scene by Ambulance Paramedics, before being taken to Royal North Shore Hospital, where he later died.

He is yet to be formally identified, however, is believed to be aged in his 30s.

Man and woman charged with drug supply – Penshurst

New South Wales Police on Friday, 29/04/2016 00:00 AEST

A man and woman have been charged with drug supply, after police raided a home in Penshurst earlier today, seizing cannabis, hydroponics equipment, and cash.

About 11.30am (Thursday 28 April 2016), following investigations into the supply of drugs in the area, investigators from the St George Proactive Crime Team executed a search warrant at a home Cambridge Street, Penshurst.

During the search warrant, police allegedly located an amount of cannabis, hydroponics equipment, and cash.

The items were seized and will undergo forensic examinations.

A 28-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman were arrested at the home and taken to St George Police Station.

Man charged over alleged assault – Warners Bay

A man has been charged over an alleged assault at Warners Bay.

Emergency services were called to John Street about 8pm (Monday 25 April 2016), where they found a man unconscious.

Officers from Lake Macquarie Local Area Command attended and were told the 46-year-old man was assaulted after leaving a nearby hotel.

He was taken to John Hunter Hospital where he remains with serious head injuries.

Following inquiries, a 36-year-old man was arrested at a home in Belmont this afternoon (Thursday 28 April 2016).

Missing girl, Lowood

Police are seeking public assistance to help to locate a girl missing from Lowood.

The 12-year-old was last seen at her house around 11am yesterday but hasn’t been seen since.

Police hold concerns for her welfare as her behaviour is out of character.

She is described as Caucasian in appearance, 170cms tall, has a proportionate build and long black hair.

Anyone who may have seen the girl is urged to contact Policelink on 131444.

Dangerous driving charges, Molendinar

Police have charged a man after he allegedly hit a pedestrian at Molendinar this afternoon.

It will be alleged around 2.30pm at the intersection of Harper Street and Geary Crescent two vehicles have stopped and an argument has occurred in relation to an earlier traffic matter on Southport-Nerang Road.

A 32-year-old man stepped out of his vehicle and was standing on the road.

The other vehicle has allegedly accelerated rapidly at the man who has been struck and fell to the ground.  The vehicle has then left the scene.

The 32-year-old man was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A 19-year-old Surfers Paradise man has subsequently attended the Southport Police Station in relation to the matter.   He has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle, assault occasioning bodily harm and fail to remain at scene.

He will appear at the Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow, April 29.

Teenager dies in hospital after being struck by car at Warners Bay

A teenager has died after being struck by a car at Warners Bay earlier this week.

The 15-year-old girl was crossing Hillsborough Road just before 5pm on Tuesday (26 April 2016), when she was hit by a Ford Laser.

The girl was taken to John Hunter Hospital where she died this afternoon (Thursday 28 April 2016).

The driver of the car, a 22-year-old woman, wasn’t injured.

Officers from Lake Macquarie Local Area Command continue to investigate the incident and will prepare a report for the Coroner.
