70 arrested at Stereosonic

A police operation, which included the use of Passive Alert Detection (PAD) dogs, conducted during the Stereosonic music festival at the Royal Agricultural Showgrounds has resulted in 70 people being arrested.
Drugs seized at the event included ecstasy, MDMA, amphetamines, cocaine and cannabis.
Diversions were given to 56 people, 6 people were issued with cannabis cautions, 2 others are expected to be charged on summons with drug offences and two were charged and bailed.
Two festival goers are expected to be charged on summons with assault while two others were issued with penalty notices for being drunk.

Pedestrian hit by car in Monash

ACT Policing is investigating a collision that occurred on Ashley Drive, Monash this morning, (Sunday 6 December).
About 1.40am, Tuggeranong patrol members responded to reports of a collision involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian.
When police arrived at the scene they observed a male lying on the side of the road surrounded by a number of persons. Witnesses indicated to police that a white Ford Falcon sedan had first swerved to avoid the male who was walking along Ashley Drive.
It is believed the white Ford Falcon sedan has then struck the side of the male who was thrown to the ground on impact. The vehicle slowed before fleeing the scene.

Trespass incident, Woolloongabba

Police are currently on the scene of a trespass incident in Carl Street, Woolloongabba.
Around 4.30am this morning police were advised that a man had entered a construction site and had climbed a large crane.
Police including negotiators are in attendance at the scene and have closed Carl Street to both vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
People are asked to avoid the area.
There is no further information at this stage.
Missing girl, Townsville

Police are appealing for public assistance to locate an 11-year-old girl reported missing from Mount Louisa yesterday.
The girl (pictured) was last seen around 8am on Friday December 4th. Police and family hold concerns for her welfare, as she has not made contact with family or been seen since.
She is described as Aboriginal in appearance, approximately 160cm tall, with a proportionate build, black hair and black eyes and was last seen wearing a school uniform described as a blue and yellow polo shirt and brown/pink shorts.
If anyone has seen the girl or may have information as to her whereabouts, police urge them to contact Crime Stoppers.
Intruder arrested at Christies Beach

A woman has been arrested after allegedly breaking into the home of an elderly resident this morning.
Just before 5am on Sunday 6 December, police were called to a home in Hepburn Road, Christie Downs. It will be alleged that a woman forced entry into the house occupied by an elderly woman and stole the rings from her fingers, keys and some cash before fleeing.
Paramedics treated the victim at the scene, who had sustained minor injuries and was shaken by the incident. She was conveyed to the Flinders Medical Centre for treatment.
Police searched the surrounding area and quickly located the suspect in Kerry Street, Christies Beach.
The 21-year-old woman of no fixed address was arrested and charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass, aggravated assault and will be refused police bail to appear in court tomorrow.
Serious traffic crash, Coulson

Police are investigating a serious motorcycle crash that occurred in Coulson, near Boonah, yesterday afternoon.
Preliminary investigations suggest that around 3.30pm, a 48-year-old woman was travelling south along Ipswich Boonah Road on a motorcycle when she failed to negotiate a corner and left the roadway, crashing on the grassed shoulder.
The 48-year-old Collingwood Park woman was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with serious injuries.
Investigations by the Forensic Crash Unit are continuing.
Serious traffic crash, Annerley

Police are investigating a serious traffic crash in Annerley this evening in which a 36-year-old man sustained serious injuries.
Preliminary investigations suggest that around 5.30pm, the man was travelling along Waterton Street on a motorcycle when he has lost control at the intersection with Lothian Street and fallen from his bike.
A sedan travelling on Lothian Street has then collided with the man.
The 36-year-old Fernvale man serious internal injuries and was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
The driver of the sedan, a 48-year-old woman, was not injured.
Investigations by the Forensic Crash Unit are continuing.
Birthday bungle

Hastings Highway Patrol officers caught a woman drink driving after detecting her vehicle travelling at high speed in Tuerong this evening.
It’s believed the woman was driving her Mercedes sedan south along the Mornington Peninsula Freeway, between Moorooduc Highway and Nepean Highway, about 7.40pm.
Police detected the car travelling at 154km/h in the 100km/h speed limit zone.
The driver, a 57-year-old Fitzroy woman, was breath tested and returned a reading of .132 per cent.
Her car was impounded for 30 days and she will have to pay $950 towing and storage costs to get it back.

Second person dies in Irymple crash

An elderly woman has died in hospital following a collision on the Calder Highway at Irymple, near Mildura.
The incident happened at the intersection of Irymple Avenue just before 5pm.
Police believe that a car traveling north on the highway collided with another car as it attempted to cross the highway from Irymple Avenue.
A young girl, who was a passenger in the vehicle crossing the highway, was conveyed to the Mildura Base Hospital but unfortunately died on arrival.
The driver of the car, a woman in her 80s, was also conveyed to hospital but died several hours later.

Man charged over Rye siege

Police have charged a 69-year-old man following a siege in a Rye café earlier today.
The alarm was raised when the man was seen entering the shop, near the intersection of Ozone Street and Point Nepean Road, allegedly armed with a firearm about 7.45am.
Two women allegedly held captive in the café were released at 3.20pm.
The Rye man gave himself up to police shortly after and has since been charged with two counts of unlawful imprisonment and firearm offences.
He has been remanded in custody to appear at the Frankston Magistrates’ Court on Monday 7 December.

Witnesses sought to fatal crash

Major Crash Investigators are seeking witnesses to a fatal road crash on the Dukes Highway that occurred at 1.15pm on Friday 4 December.
The crash occurred within the township of Tintinara when a silver Volkswagen Tiguan SUV and a Kenworth semi-trailer collided head on.
Police are keen to speak with anyone who may have seen the Volkswagen prior to the crash or the crash itself, particularly two vehicles that stopped immediately following the collision.

Update 2: Unlawful wounding, Benaraby

Gladstone police have charged a man following the investigation of an unlawful wounding in Benaraby.
It will be alleged around 1.10am yesterday two men were involved in an altercation at a caravan park on the Bruce Highway in which one of the men sustained a stab wound to his back.
A 26-year-old West Gladstone man has been charged with one count of unlawful wounding and one count of use a carriage service to make a threat to cause serious harm.
He is due to appear at Gladstone Magistrates Court on Monday, December 7
