Unlawful wounding, Wynnum

Detectives have charged a man following the investigation of an alleged stabbing at Wynnum today.

It will be alleged that at about 11:50am in a unit complex at Bride Street an altercation occurred between two male residents of the units during which one man received stab wounds to the hand, torso and head.

An 81-year-old Wynnum man has been charged with unlawful wounding and will appear at the Cleveland Magistrates Court tomorrow.

A 66-year-old Wynnum man was treated at the Redlands Hospital for non-life threatening wounds to the hand, torso and head.

Man arrested over breach of control order

Detectives from the Special Crimes Investigation Branch have arrested a man for allegedly breaching a child sex offender control order.

The 57-year-old man from the northern suburbs was arrested earlier today and charged with 2 counts of breaching an interim child sex offender control order.

Police will allege that on Saturday 5 December the man resided within 500 metres of a park where children frequent and loitered in the vicinity of a park where children frequent in contravention of the order.

The man was refused bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Monday 7 December.

Police are appealing for public assistance to locate a man missing from Kirwan.

Sean Wright-Parker, pictured, was last seen at his home residence in Kirwan on Saturday night.

He has not be in contact with family or friends since then and police hold concerns for his safety as this behaviour is out of character.

Sean is 18-years-old and is described as Caucasian in appearance, 175 cm tall, slim build, green eyes and brown hair.

Unit fire at Norwood

Traffic is currently restricted in Norwood due to a unit fire.

At 5.30pm, Police and fire crews were called to a report of a fire at a group of units on Coke Street.

Fire crews are currently on scene fighting the fire and Police ask motorists to avoid George Street and William Street. Access to the shopping centre carpark has been closed.

Members of the public are advised to follow the directions of emergency services and avoid the area as there is a large amount of smoke generated from the fire.

Shooting incident, Gold Coast

Police are currently investigating a shooting incident at Merrimac this afternoon.

Initial inquiries reveal that at about 3:40pm a car was stationary in a carpark on Gooding Drive when a second car has stopped in the carpark.

A man has got out of the second car and approached the other vehicle before firing several shots into the car. He then got back into the car and drove off.

A 24-year-old man who was the passenger of the vehicle received non-life threatening leg injuries and presented himself at Robina Hospital.

A 19-year-old woman is assisting police with their inquiries.

Investigations are continuing.

Police investigate stabbing – Fairfield East

Initial investigations suggest an altercation took place between a man and a group of men, before the man was assaulted and stabbed.

The man, believed to be aged in his 30s, was treated at the scene by Ambulance Paramedics, before being taken to hospital in a critical condition.

A crime scene has been established and inquiries into the incident are continuing. Police urge anyone with information to come forward.

Man in tinny hit by 20-foot, cream motor boat – Middle Harbour

Police were told that a 47-year-old man was fishing in his tinny near Middle Head, when a motor boat that had been stationary nearby, took off at speed and hit the tinny.

The man was knocked from the tinny, and pushed under water for a period of time, before swimming to the surface.

He was assisted by people on board nearby sailing boats, one of which was used to take the man to Balmoral Beach.

He was treated by emergency services personnel on the beach before being taken to Royal North Shore Hospital with back injuries, as well as cuts and bruising.

The man’s damaged tinny has been brought into Balmoral Beach and will be forensically examined.

Update: Trespass incident, Woolloongabba

Police have issued a 21-year-old man with a notice to appear in court following an incident in Woolloongabba this morning.

Around 4.30am police were advised that a man had entered a construction site and had climbed to the top of a crane on Carl Street.

After hours of negotiations, the man climbed down from the 80-metre high structure and was detained by police around 11am.

Officers issued the man with a notice to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on January 21 in relation to one count each of trespass, unregulated high risk activity, public nuisance, wilful damage, obstruct police and possess a dangerous drug.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a two car collision which occurred in Carrum Downs this afternoon. Investigators have been told…

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a two car collision which occurred in Carrum Downs this afternoon.

Investigators have been told that a Holden Commodore was travelling south along Frankston-Dandenong Road around 1.45pm.

The driver of the Commodore, believed to be a male in his 70s, lost control of the car which crossed onto the wrong side of the road and collided with a north bound Ford Roadster.

The driver of the Ford died at the scene while her male passenger and the driver of the Holden were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Men arrested following break-in

A man has been arrested following investigation into a break-in at Semaphore early this morning.

Between 3am and 4am on Sunday 6 December, a house on Hall Street was broken into and a set of car keys along with a white 2013 Audi A5 sedan with registration XX223N, were stolen.

The Audi was sighted this afternoon in the Northern suburbs but following a Police pursuit was lost in the backstreets of Elizabeth.

A short time later, Police conducting enquiries stopped a Ford Territory on Waya Avenue in Salisbury North.

A search of the car revealed items believed to have been stolen during the break-in.

A 25-year-old man from Port Augusta has been arrested and charged with serious criminal trespass and theft. He has been refused bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court tomorrow.

A second man, a 24-year-old from Ceduna, has been arrested for unlawful possession of credit cards as well as theft and will appear in court at a later date.

The stolen Audi is still outstanding and police appeal to the public to call 131 444 if you see a white 2013 Audi A5 sedan with registration XX223N.

Missing woman, East Ipswich

Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate a 39-year-old woman who is missing from the Ipswich area.

Christie Hull (pictured) was last seen at around 6.30pm on Saturday, at a residence in Marcel Street East Ipswich.

Concerns are held for her welfare as her disappearance is out of character.

She is described as Caucasian in appearance with a fair complexion, large build, approximately 172cm tall, with brown hair and hazel eyes.

She was last seen wearing knee length blue shorts and a black t-shirt and is believed to be travelling in a 2005 blue Ford Falcon XR6 sedan (similar pictured) bearing a Queensland registration number 995-JFO.

Update: Murder charge, Capalaba

A 32-year-old woman has been charged with murder following investigations into the suspicious death of a man in Capalaba yesterday.

The body of a 51-year-old Carina man was located in a culvert on Degen Road around 12.50pm yesterday.

A crime scene was declared and forensic investigators returned to the scene today.

A 32-year-old Capalaba woman has been charged with one count of murder and is expected to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Investigators are satisfied a third party was not involved in the commission of this crime.

Six arrested following home invasion – Old Toongabbie

At the home, police arrested five men aged 18, 18, 23, 34 and 26, and a 16-year-old boy.

The men and boy allegedly entered the home armed with weapons including a replica gun, knives, and capsicum spray, and demanded cash from the two female occupants.

Following their arrest, police from Parramatta local Area Command searched two cars parked nearby, where they allegedly located an amount of ammunition and other items.

The weapons, ammunition, and other items were all seized and will undergo forensic examination.

All six were taken to Parramatta Police Station where they were each charged with aggravated break and enter, and were refused bail.

Police investigate fatal motorcycle crash – Royal National Park

Initial investigations suggest a motorcycle was travelling south, when it left the roadway and crashed.

The rider, an 84-year-old man, died at the scene.

A crime scene has been established and investigations into the crash are continuing.

Sir Bertram Stevens Drive was closed for a number of hours as investigations took place.

Two people dead following collision in Avonmore

Victoria Police on Sunday, 06/12/2015 14:05 AEST

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a double fatality in Avonmore this afternoon.

It appears two cars, travelling in opposite directions, collided on the Midland Highway about 150m north of Lanmore Road about 1.15pm.

The driver and a passenger from one of the cars died at the scene.

The driver from the other vehicle is expected to be flown to a Melbourne hospital while emergency services personnel work to free a passenger from the wreckage.

The Midland Highway, south of Elmore will be closed within the vicinity of the crash for some time while police process the scene.

Taskforce Heracles Arrests

Taskforce Heracles detectives have charged two people today in relation to an alleged blackmail.

A 51-year-old man from West Footscray and a 47-year-old man from Ocean Grove have both been charged with one count of blackmail.

The charges follow a lengthy investigation by the Taskforce.

Taskforce Heracles consists of AFP and Victoria Police investigators, and has been established to investigate referrals and other matters arising from the Royal Commission into Trade Union Corruption and Governance.

Both men have been bailed to appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 8 December.

Man killed and woman rescued after falling down well – Weilmoringle, northwest of Lightning Ridge

Initial investigations suggest a 29-year-old man became overwhelmed by fumes while installing a water pump at the bottom of the well.

The man’s partner – a 28-year-old woman – began climbing down the well to assist, but fell on to a ledge after the rope ladder broke.

The couple’s two children drove 35km through the property to a nearby road and flagged down a passing driver who contacted emergency services.

A rescue operation was commenced with several units from Police Rescue, SES, Fire and Rescue NSW, NSW Ambulance Paramedics and officers from Castlereagh Local Area Command in attendance.

The 28-year-old woman was released from the well at 1.15am suffering shock and possible carbon monoxide poisoning. She was flown by helicopter to Orange Base Hospital where she remains in a serious condition.

Police search for missing man Graeme Mallinson

Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate missing 52-year-old Graeme Mallinson from Hamilton.

Graeme was last seen at the Warrnambool Base Hospital on Ryot Street about 3pm on Wednesday 2 December.

Police and Graeme’s family have concerns for his welfare as he suffers from a medical condition that requires daily medication.

Investigators have released photographs of Graeme in the hope that someone may have information on his current whereabouts.

Graeme is described as 180cm tall, with a thin build, grey hair and has possibly grown a moustache and beard.

Missing man Peter Jones

Police are seeking the assistance of the public to help locate missing man, Peter Jones.

Mr Jones, 81, was last seen at his Blackwood residence at 9am this morning, Sunday 6 December. Police and his family and police are concerned for his welfare as he suffers a medical condition and may be disoriented in the heat.

Peter Jones is Caucasian, 175cm tall, with a slim build, grey curly hair, tattoos on his arms and he normally wears glasses. He is dressed in jeans and a t-shirt.

Anyone who spots Peter Jones or has information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the police assistance line on 131 444.

She had left her school in Katoomba earlier in the day. Police have concerns for her welfare due to her young age and a possible medical condition.

Lakiya is described as having an olive complexion, with a thin build, long wavy dark brown hair, and was also seen wearing a Katoomba High School uniform and carrying a beige handbag.

Ecstasy arrest at city nightclub

A 19-year-old from Pennington has been charged with trafficking in a controlled drug and unlawful possession after being arrested by police in possession of 21 tablets, alleged to be ecstasy, overnight at a licensed venue.

Eastern Adelaide Police made the arrest about 1.15am on Sunday 6 December.

The accused, who was also alleged to be in possession of more than $1000 in cash, was refused bail and is expected to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court tomorrow. He was also issued with a three-month barring order.

Man charged following Irymple fatal collision

A 22-year-old man has been charged following a fatal collision in Irymple yesterday.

A young girl and elderly woman died in the collision which occurred at the intersection of Irymple Avenue and Calder Highway just before 5pm.

Police believe that a car traveling north on the highway collided with another car as it attempted to cross the highway from Irymple Avenue.

The Mildura man has been charged with two counts of culpable driving and two counts of dangerous driving causing death.

He was remanded in custody to appear at the Mildura Magistrates’ Court on Monday 7 December.

Cannabis crop seizure, Chambers Flat

Logan detectives are investigating following the discovery of a significant hydroponic cannabis crop set up in Chambers Flat yesterday.

Police declared a crime scene at the Holloway Road residence yesterday where officers located a large purpose-built shed with five cannabis ‘grow rooms’ inside.

More than 800 cannabis plants, varying in maturity have been seized, along with a four-wheel-drive vehicle located at the scene.

The crime scene was guarded overnight.

Police are currently in the process of dismantling the set-up with other government agencies.

Investigations are continuing.

Armed robbery, Idalia

Detectives are investigating the armed robbery of a chemist in Idalia that occurred yesterday morning.

Around 9.55am, a man entered the Kokoda Street store and approached a female employee behind the counter.

He produced a large knife and made demands for drugs. The employee complied, and the man fled the business on foot with a quantity of property.

No one was physically injured during the incident.

Police investigating drug source after death at music festival

SA Police are investigating the source of illicit drugs that have been linked to the death of a 19-year-old Adelaide man at a music festival yesterday.

Superintendent John De Candia, the officer in charge of the Eastern Adelaide Local Service Area, said in addition to the death, two other young people are in the Royal Adelaide Hospital after apparently taking drugs at the Stereosonic Music Festival.

“We are appealing for anyone in the community with information relevant to these matters to come forward and speak to police,” he said.

“We will fully investigate the death of this teenager and the origin of the drugs he had in his possession.

“Police are also investigating if those pills are linked with two other people who are in the Royal Adelaide Hospital today being treated for serious overdoses – a 21-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man.”

In addition:

* A 17-year-old girl was arrested for a street offence

* six people were evicted from the event

* 34 people were refused entry after being detected with drugs

* Two people detained under the Public Intoxication Act

* 23 people were issued with drug diversions

* 34 pills were seized

Police today expressed their frustration in the wake of the young man’s death.

“I specifically said before this event, that police did not want to be in the position of advising a family of such as tragedy,” Supt De Candia said. “This is the worst possible outcome for them and the wider community.”

70 arrested at Stereosonic

A police operation, which included the use of Passive Alert Detection (PAD) dogs, conducted during the Stereosonic music festival at the Royal Agricultural Showgrounds has resulted in 70 people being arrested.

Drugs seized at the event included ecstasy, MDMA, amphetamines, cocaine and cannabis.

Diversions were given to 56 people, 6 people were issued with cannabis cautions, 2 others are expected to be charged on summons with drug offences and two were charged and bailed.

Two festival goers are expected to be charged on summons with assault while two others were issued with penalty notices for being drunk.

ACT Policing is investigating a collision that occurred on Ashley Drive, Monash this morning, (Sunday 6 December).

About 1.40am, Tuggeranong patrol members responded to reports of a collision involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian.

When police arrived at the scene they observed a male lying on the side of the road surrounded by a number of persons. Witnesses indicated to police that a white Ford Falcon sedan had first swerved to avoid the male who was walking along Ashley Drive.

It is believed the white Ford Falcon sedan has then struck the side of the male who was thrown to the ground on impact. The vehicle slowed before fleeing the scene.

Photographer charged over alleged frauds – Blacktown

Police allege the man pawned the equipment shortly after hiring it, and through a range of methods deceived the equipment hire companies into believing he was a genuine customer who was still in possession of the equipment.

Police allege the nine offences during this time amounted to over $176,000.

Police from Blacktown Local Area Command commenced an investigation into the offences and about 12pm yesterday (Saturday 5 December 2015) arrested the man at a pawn shop in Blacktown.

He was taken to Blacktown Police Station where he was charged with nine counts of dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception.

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Sunday 6 December 2015).

Trespass incident, Woolloongabba

Around 4.30am this morning police were advised that a man had entered a construction site and had climbed a large crane.

Police are appealing for public assistance to locate an 11-year-old girl reported missing from Mount Louisa yesterday.

The girl (pictured) was last seen around 8am on Friday December 4th. Police and family hold concerns for her welfare, as she has not made contact with family or been seen since.

She is described as Aboriginal in appearance, approximately 160cm tall, with a proportionate build, black hair and black eyes and was last seen wearing a school uniform described as a blue and yellow polo shirt and brown/pink shorts.

If anyone has seen the girl or may have information as to her whereabouts, police urge them to contact Crime Stoppers.

Intruder arrested at Christies Beach

A woman has been arrested after allegedly breaking into the home of an elderly resident this morning.

Just before 5am on Sunday 6 December, police were called to a home in Hepburn Road, Christie Downs. It will be alleged that a woman forced entry into the house occupied by an elderly woman and stole the rings from her fingers, keys and some cash before fleeing.

Paramedics treated the victim at the scene, who had sustained minor injuries and was shaken by the incident. She was conveyed to the Flinders Medical Centre for treatment.

Police searched the surrounding area and quickly located the suspect in Kerry Street, Christies Beach.

The 21-year-old woman of no fixed address was arrested and charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass, aggravated assault and will be refused police bail to appear in court tomorrow.
