Man Charged After Abusing Queensland Police Rescuers In Remote North East

A West Australian man has been charged over abusing police who rescued him and his passenger from their vehicle on a closed road in remote northwest Queensland, about 12 km east of the Northern Territory border.

Police say the Broome man, 22, and his female passenger, 19, became bogged and ran out of fuel on a road which had been closed about 40km from Camooweal on Wednesday night.

When officers finally found the couple the following morning the man allegedly abused them and was charged with a number of offences.

He’s due to face Camooweal Magistrates Court on February 26.
