An ice-addled man who allegedly shot at police in a wild car chase continued his assault on them after his arrest, it has been alleged.
But it didn’t work out quite as Ashley James Rei-Paku may have hoped, with the 23-year-old now nursing a broken arm and broken ribs in prison.
The Melbourne Magistrates Court heard today Mr Rei-Paku suffered the injuries, and other injuries on his head, during his arrest.
Mr Rei-Paku was the fourth person to be charged following the wild shootout and is facing 21 charges.
Court documents allege Mr Rei-Paku embarked on a two-day crime spree that ended in him shooting at a marked police car about 3.30am Thursday.
The attack was the fourth against police in less than a fortnight.
It followed another shooting in Wyndham Vale on Wednesday that he has also been charged over.
