Black Cab Drivers To Give Veterans Free Travel To and From Central London Service

Generous black cab drivers will ferry war heroes to and from veterans’ clubs and Remembrance services free of charge on Sunday.

“Poppy cab” taxi drivers will give up their fares to take the war veterans to Westminster Bridge and clubs around London.

The capital’s cabbies have a history of waiving fares to transport veterans. The Taxi Charity runs annual trips to Worthing for retired war heroes, and earlier this year took a group to the Netherlands to commemorate the Liberation of Arnhem.

Meanwhile, 4,500 London Transport workers killed in the two World Wars will be remembered by a 50-strong delegation from the London Transport Old Comrades Association at London’s biggest Remembrance Day parade.

They will join the march to the Cenotaph in Whitehall on Sunday before laying a wreath.
