Victoria’s Police Deserve Pay Hike To Work Weekends, Public Holidays

Police deserve to be rewarded for their hard work and unsociable hours, Police Association secretary Ron Iddles says. Rank-and-file officers have called for double time and a half on public holidays, double time on Sundays and time and a half on Saturdays. For many senior constables, this would mean getting $93.50 an hour on public holidays or $748 a shift, and $74.80 an hour on Sundays or $598 a shift, according to Police ­Association figures. Currently, they receive only an extra $4.86 an hour on weekends, and nothing extra for public holidays.
